The room looked very tired. Could use a good clean and update. From the cutlery to couch. Only good thing was the view and closeness to town. We hired a car and wanted a safe area to park and were charged for that also. When we have travelled we usually use Airbnb or Stayz. I think we'll stick to them in the future.

I would stay again, however I felt the quality of the room was a little below what I expected for a bit over $300/night in that the bathroom decor was somewhat aged and the carpet throughout was also aged and in suboptimal condition. Late check-in was well facilitated with keys in a lock-box as planned, parking was able to be added with minimal fuss. Kitchen facilities were very good though dishwasher was quite noisy. In-room laundry facilities were also very good and above expectation. Hotel facilities were also very good.

The room was not well maintained, carpet, couches, bed covers were stained and soiled. The kitchenette, though suitable, was covered in grease residue. There was a fire alarm over the kitchen/ oven / stove. Which meant that it wasn't suitable for anything other then heating water. It is well located. Lovely location on the esplanade, great to walk/ see the sunset. However it's opposite the backpackers quarter and the windows are single glazed. You hear all the club music, screams and general normal noise of the clubs/ backpackers. This is a whole week issue (not just weekends). The long term accommodation is served once a week, which was not adequate (toilet paper running out, garbage build up)

Very disappointed with the room. there was a stale damp smell in the room. The room had no presentation at all. There was no cleaning done daily. Only once during the eight days and that was the last day. No coffee shop was another disappointment. We had to go or to the Novotel to get anything to eat or a coffee other than the instant in our room. The pool was not clean as there was dirt in the pool so not inviting to have a swim. The Mantra has a good name in Queensland; however, it would be very difficult to recommend the Mantra 88 The Esplanade Darwin. Also there is no name on the hotel at this time. Family could not find the hotel as they did not have the address and were not able to locate the hotel.
