We were notified late the day before via email that you were going to be a COVID quarantine hotel and that we could cancel our booking free of charge - As we do not look at our emails every night by the time we saw the email it was too late to change hotels and this was very disappointing as we have family members that have illnesses and would have rather not stayed at the hotel. The staff were friendly however we also had a group that was next to us that partied all night which was also disturbing as this went on until the early hours of the morning and they were jumping balconies. The facilities were geat and staff very good but not being able to use the lifts was frustrating whilst they were being used and cleaned for the COVID use was frustrating

It was very pleasing to read that you enjoyed the facilities and found our staff very friendly. I do apologise for the lateness of our contact regarding our transition to becoming a quarantine hotel. Please be aware that it was not an easy decision to make. I can understand that you may have felt very uncomfortable staying here. At Accor and the Mantra on Edward, we place the safety of our guests and our staff at the highest priority. Following consultation with QLD Health and the QLD Police, we were very confident that we were able to operate safely. I totally understand that you still may have felt reservations towards this. While our team did contact all of our guests due to arrive, I can understand that given the lateness of the developments, that it may have been hard. Your comments regarding the room next door and the jumping of balconies is very concerning and I do wish to thank you for bringing it to our attention. After reviewing I duty log, I can say that I am satisfied with our response after the Manager on Duty contacted the QPS onsite and evicted the guests. Once again, I do apologise for the inconvenience that occurred and hope that in the future that we will have the ability to showcase the service that we pride ourselves on. Guest wellbeing not prioritised - Poor Communication

My partner and I were staying for a total of 4 weeks as part of my company sponsored relocation to take on a leadership role in our Brisbane Office. A decision was made by Mantra Accor group to accept a government contract to become a Quarantine Hotel. I received an email at 11:40pm on Thursday 17th September to advise me that we had to move out a week early, and that police and people under quarantine orders would be staying in the same property from 4pm, the following day, Friday 18th September. I did not see this email until late morning on Friday 18th of September. At no point did I receive a phone call from the Accor Group or the Mantra on Edward to advise me of this development. Once I read said email, shocked, appalled and upset, I called reception at the Mantra on Edward. I was told that there was no one on duty who could provide any information as to what was happening and that the General Manager was 'busy and on the phone'. I requested an immediate call back from somebody who had authority to discuss the situation. An hour went by, I sent a follow up email requesting somebody call me immediately, whilst I was in a meeting. Another hour went by and no phone call. I then left work and walked across the city to speak directly with the team at the Mantra on Edward. I arrive to find the lobby swarming with Police and guests being informed that potential COVID-19 infected people would be arrived in a few hours but it was 'going to be okay because they wont be on the same floor as you'. At this point it is fair to say I lost my temper, something that normally would take an extreme amount of provocation. I travel often for work and generally prioritise staying at Accor Group properties because I feel like I am looked after well, furthermore the company I work for (10,000 + employees) lists Accor Group as a preferred supplier of accommodation in our booking systems. Never in my life had I had an experience where I have paid to stay at a property and had my wellbeing (both mental and physical) sacrificed so willingly for the sake of a business outcome such as what one can only assume is a somewhat profitable short term contract. The fact that no member of staff at ANY level of the company could even be bothered to pick up the phone and talk to me about this before putting me and my partner at risk is utterly disgraceful. Furthermore both me and my partner were forced to sacrifice half a days work each, including a board meeting that I was forced to excuse myself from. As a result I will be proposing that we blacklist this property from our booking database and will be avoiding staying with Accor Group moving forward.

While it was not an easy decision to transition into a quarantine hotel, I am also very aware that it would not have been an easy scenario or situation for yourself and your partner. At the Mantra on Edward and Accor, we take the safety and security of our staff and guests as a top priority at all times. Following consultation with QLD Health and Police, we were confident we would be safely operate as a hotel over the following days. I understand that given the scenes at reception, that it may have made you feel uncomfortable. I do also apologise that a member of our team was not able to attend to your concerns earlier and that it did take some time for us to get back into contact with you. From the moment we arrived and were greeted warmly by Tennille to the time we departed we were treated like family and felt comfortable immediately. The rooms were clean and bright, very well equipped and the level of pre-arrival sanitising and wrapping of all utensils very much appreciated. The room in general was exceptional. The kitchen had everything we needed (even a dishwasher!) and the bed was very comfy! Pillows soft and inviting. The view spectacular...with a wide and welcome balcony...arrrr...fresh air! But mostly, Annie and her staff are to be commended for a great job and for a warm and sustained welcome. Thank you Brendan for your help with finding my way in the car park!...and a really big thank you for recovering my mislaid earrings...Thank you Annie...you are a star! And so are you Tennille! Overall it was a good stay. Receptionists and all staff member is very polite and helpful. And they took special measures for cleaning the place due to COVID and in kithcen pantry they have every item properly cleaned and wrapped individually.

Cancelled our room even though I called to let them know obviously message didn't get passed on. Room was very dated. Rubbish in front of the lift because it was over flowing from the bin. Hallways where during wall paper falling of the wall's.

Great location, staff very friendly. Checkin and checkout couldn’t have been simpler and they even added my points to my ALL account. Rooms very bare, if staying for more than one night need more kitchen ware and a mattress topper.
