Novotel Melbourne Preston 4.5 stars

We recently stayed at the Novotel Melbourne Preston for one night as we had an appointment early the next morning in the area and lived in regional Victoria. Interesting that that you cannot actually drive in and park in front of the entry to the hotel as it is blocked and your only other option is to either park in the underground carpark or in Hotham Street until you have actually checked in. Also felt that it was unusual that the lift from the underground car park actually takes you into the building across from the foyer of the hotel where the restaurant is located. Maybe some better instructions would be helpful. Apart from that our room was clean, spacious and had lovely floor to ceiling windows but a very small bathroom. Unfortunately the windows are not double glazed as the Bell Street traffic noise started before 6.00am so if booking ask for a room not facing Bell Street. The room had a small kitchenette which crockery for 2, a microwave, toaster, kettle and a coffee machine. Strangely it had a small hotplate but nothing with which to cook on it. Our bed and pillows were very comfortable. Our package included buffet breakfast in the Stampton & Co which was very tasty.

Welcoming staff, clean well appointed room and a very comfortable bed. Undercover parking was easily accessed, though it was $20.00 per day. The restaurant staff were very attentive and I enjoyed my meals (dinner and breakfast).

We couldn't find fault during our stay, it exceeded our expectations. Our room was very comfortable, as Accor members we appreciated our upgrade. The staff at the restaurant were amazing, special mention to Suman whose service was exceptional. The hotel is within easy walking distance to 86 tram and the woolworths and preston markets were nearby. We will definitely stay here again

Check in was smooth, staff were friendly. A few minutes drive from preston market and wollies. The tram and train staition is just down the road. Room was clean and spacious. Car park used to be free of charge for all hotel guest and recently the hotel implemented parking fee for all hotel guests/visitor parking. For a suburb area, an overnight parking that cost 20 dollars per vehicle is expensive. Management should come up with a better solution regarding this for their hotel guest. The only answer I got was the parking spot was managed by third party, hence there's nothing can be done.

We had the absolute pleasure of staying at Novotel Preston. From check in, the room and the facilities we were wowed. We have to give a special mention to the restaurant though. We booked to break up a long journey home while my husband was recovering from surgery and was on a very restricted diet. We went in to look at the menu and they didn't have any soups or liquids he could drink, so we told them we would have to pass this time and why. The manager asked us to wait a minute as he had an idea. He came back with their head chef and after a discussion with my husband, he offered to make him a number of soups. My husband picked the tomato and capsicum soup and it was ready for him when we came back at 6.30 for dinner. The head chef also asked how long we were staying and he would make a different soup every night for him. Sadly it was just an overnight stay, but we have since booked there again for multiple trips upcoming. This will be our new base for our Melbourne trips. Thank you to everyone at the hotel.
