This is not a 5 stars hotel. - The building: to me it looks like it used to be a small hotel (facing Av Atlantica) that at some point bought an adjacent building (on R Souza Lima). Why? Because although it's a relatively small place, there are at least two separate building blocks. One has the bar, the restaurant, the rooftop pool and spacious elevators. The other is just a block of rooms with a couple of small elevators. We were staying in this second building, so if we wanted to go to the pool, we needed to take the elevator 13 floors down, walk to the other side of the hotel and ride another elevator 13 floors up. The lobby is small, so it's usually crammed with people. The entrance HAS NO ramp, so good luck if you are on a wheel chair or carrying heavy luggage. - The room: having stayed in Grand Mercure Ibirapuera, this was a clear downgrade. The most obvious is the old, incredibly noisy AC (unusual for even a 4-star hotel). Additionally the bathroom had no window. If you are staying 30 meters from the beach, chances are you are going to get back with wet clothes. Good luck getting them dry! - Beach Service: this is probably the one thing the hotel has going for itself. On top of offering towels to take with you to the beach (you have to ask for them in the lobby), the closest barraça will recognize the towels and offer you free beach chairs and umbrella.

Good hotel in great location

I recently stayed at this hotel when in Rio for a couple of days. The location is great, opposite the beach and close by to restaurants and supermarkets. The room was spacious and comfortable and the breakfast was very good. The one area that let the hotel down was the reception, as the desk is quite small and there was a long line of people waiting - perhaps I was just unlucky as a bus group was leaving when I was needing to leave? The door staff were also then occupied with the bus, which meant there was no-one to assist taking my bags down the stairs.

We appreciate very much your comments and are happy to have made your stay pleasant. We also apologize your experience at the Front Desk. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again to our Brazilian house with a Carioca soul for a more welcoming experience.

Rooms are comfortable but not luxurious. Great breakfast and roof terrace bar which gives views over Copacabana. Pool is small but good to have and sunbathe by. Very modern Gym with a lot of equipment again with views of the beach. Staff were very helpful and provided the few things we needed for our room. Beach towels are provided for the beach at reception. Good location on Copacabana and not far to walk round to Ipanema.

We stayed here for a few days (Monday to Thursday). The hotel is in a wonderful location on Copacabana and offers beds and umbrellas free of charge right across the street on the beach. We had a standard room with queen size bed. The room was spacious and clean but we felt we could have had an extra chair as there was only one available. The air conditioning is also quite loud so if you are a light sleeper I would recommend to get some hear plugs for the night. But this is me nitpicking. At the 18th floor of the C building there is a great gym with a view on the Copacabana. The gym is equipped with almost everything one might need and there is the option to take a sauna or massage. The 13th floor of the A building has a rooftop swimming pool with an amazing view (see photo). The pool area is quite small, so if you are planning to get a bed or a chair there I would suggest to get there quite early in the morning. The pool area is linked to the 12th floor bar and restaurant which gives easy access to a buffet breakfast with a view in the morning, lunches and dinners. You can also order food and drinks to enjoy at the poolside. We had a few cocktails and a few meals at the hotel restaurant. 12th floor and ground floor restaurants share a similar menu but the ground floor restaurant has a wider selection. The prime ribs is to die for. And the Moscow mule is probably the best we have ever tasted!

Very classy hotel , great services from a number of people starting off , in the kitchen breakfast with Marianne , she worked so hard with smile on her face then Filipe on reception always helpful for everything we needed and Victoria in the swimming pool bar restaurant very efficient polite , plus the maid in my room 1246 was amazing rooms cleaned immaculately The only down comment with the hotel was the size of pool and area far two small for three tower hotel with 8 sun loungers
