Big thanks to Micaele for the warm welcome and great service during our breakfasts at the Grand Mercure in Copacabana. She was always friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed to start the day right. Her smile and positive attitude really stood out and added a personal touch to our stay. Great location. Friendly staff. Clean rooms and common areas. Housekeeping and maintenance were very responsive and did their jobs well. The hotel is near Copacabana beach and plenty of shops, restaurants and other activities. Highly recommend.

The staff was friendly, and the lobby was kept spotless. The room was acceptable. The mattress was terrible, but the bed linens were nice. The breakfast buffet was generous, and items were restocked as needed. The view from the rooftop pool were amazing. The hotel's location is perfect for beach access as it is less than a block away.

we recently stayed for 4 nights a the Grand Mercure, Rio the hotel was nice and the location is good, just across the road from the beach with complimentary umbrellas and deck chairs for guests which was great, the staff working at the beach were fantastic as was the pool staff member who was always pleasant and helpful the rooms are clean and updated, though are super small with terrible views unless you want to pay a fortune for a beach view the check in process was really terrible, with long waits for guests which was really unacceptable we were promised an upgraded room though that never eventuated we waited hours for our room to be made available, despite communicating with the checkin desk earlier asking for help getting into our room ASAP; we understand that the room may not always be available early, however we didn't get into our room for at least an hour or two after the designated check in time. There was no apology or support from the check in staff when this occurred, just nothing at all the hotel had a strict policy for checking out beach towels, with the threat of being charged for them if not returned to the concierge staff, this process was poorly managed and when returning our towels to counter staff we were sure no one really cared about checking in our towels again, we were made to feel like we were a nuisance and the list was not updated with our returns, this was confirmed when we double checked later on in our stay which was really disappointing the reception staff were mainly cold and not very friendly or helpful, with the one exception of a lovely young red headed man at the reception desk who was always lovely to deal with and greeted us with a smile, other staff members never greeted us throughout our stay and would just look away rather than greet clients when they passed through the reception area. A smile or greeting costs nothing, but goes a long way to making clients feeling welcome and valued we have stayed at many Accor properties across the world and this was the first one where we didn't feel like valued clients
