Lovely staff. Room patio door didn’t lock. A load of blue bottles flying around the room. No hot water in the room. Mold growing on walls in corridor.

One day where room was not made up. No hot water in evening of same day - reported; advised would check the boiler and hot water would take circa 45 minutes to be available but was still not available 2 hours later. Woken up very early the next morning with vibrations from air trapped in heating system. When checking out the next morning, a simple "sorry" and advising that I should have been moved to a different room didn't really help matters. Unfortunately, it was a "sorry" experience all round.

Stayed for work, we had 2 rooms, 52 & 53. When entering room 53, the heat hit me straight away. The radiator was on full blast and would not turn off. We asked reception for another room but was advised the last one had just been sold. He advised to open the window and gave me a fan, still didn't help. Felt like the radiator didn't turn off all night, I didn't get a wink of sleep despite the window open and a fan on me throughout the night, and was then still charged full price for the room!!

lack of organisation and professionalism

My son and I chose this hotel as it was near the Motorcycle museum for the Antiques arms fair (my son is a dealer) and that breakfast starts at 7.00 am as we need to be at the museum very early. The staff started bringing out the hot food at 7.30 am. The staff were apologetic BUT did nothing to chase up the kitchen staff. In the end it was a rushed breakfast and indigestion. If you are on a business trip I would not bother with this hotel. Also I filled in the survey complaining about the lack of service and professionalism after the visit and nearly two weeks later NO email to apologise and to explain there failures.

Great Location, Hotel needs a bit of TLC

The hotel was in a great location and easy to find, the staff were great but we found the rooms a little lacking. Things such as only one table lamp and the fact we had to get out of bed to switch off not only the main lights but the table light as well. Also no hot water for our two rooms on the second day. It's not nice showering in cold water

I booked this hotel as my son (who accompanied me) is an Antiques Arms dealer who was attending the Birmingham Antiques Arms Fair that Sunday. My choice for this hotel was 1, That breakfast was at 7.00 am and 2. the proximity to the Fair. Although most of the continental breakfast was laid out the hot items did not arrive until 7.30. This made us "rush" our breakfast in order to load my car with the antiques. My son used to work in 4 and 5 star hotels in London as a chef de partie and he was very disappointed that a simple hot breakfast could not be served at the correct time and that as guests we could not have a relaxing start to the day.

After reading on trip adviser guests findings. we were completely satisfied with our stay, lovely welcoming staff on reception and a meal in the restaurant was very good, this was on the recommendation of the reception staff, our only complaint was the heat in the corridors and the bedrooms it was so hot.

This was a quick business stop with an early start. Room was big and bed comfortable. Room cold on entry but single radiator got it warm - but then too warm in the night. Noisy from road. Worst bit was the shower. Shower glass would not stay closed on bath so water would not be contained. Turned out that didn't matter: the connector of flex hose to the upright shower tube blew off when turning shower on. Despite being an engineer I could not fix, so - no shower. Needed to get away so reported at check out.

Shabby, shoddy and tired

First of all I must stress that the staff were excellent, however the however the hotel is in need of a BIG makeover! Downstairs the floor tiles are cracked and move, they are covered by rugs but the floor is uneven and dangerous for older people. Our first room had signs of damp...bubbled paint and peeling wallpaper. The bed looked like somebody either hadnt made it well or that it had been laid on. There was only one cup and only one bedside lamp. The reception staff kindly moved us but again the bed looked as if the pillows had been used. There seemed to be a lack of care and attention everywhere. There were stains on the carpets in the corridor. All in all for my first stay in an Accor Mercure hotel.....not a good impression!

It was OK. Price was good compared to other hotels in the area. A little difficult to find the hotel, is it Honiley or Chadwick End? Both windows in my room had damaged handles and so could not close the window completely which meant the noise of passing traffic made it difficult to sleep. Taps in need of new washers. Shower screen missing rubber seal. Bathroom a bit tatty. Large bedroom with huge bed.

My welcome was good. The room and bathroom spotlessly clean and the bed very comfortable. But the furniture was a little tired and carpets in hallways stained. No sign of any staff at breakfast. I had to go and hunt someone down. The full English breakfast was good. 'Hot' water in flasks was barely hot enough to make coffee and certainly not hot enough to make tea.

the room had a dead spider hanging from the ceiling, in the corners there were cobwebs, the toilet was broken, the shower faucet was broken we had to open it with a teaspoon. Only a towel for two people, there was no information about the hotel, meal times .... nothing. Finally there was no one at the reception to check out or throughout the hotel. It is a shame for other Mercure that this hotel is called that

Arrived to find a nice receptionist who checked us in. Rooms were Ok and spacious (have stayed before) went to restaurant to be sat at our table. From this point on was downhill. were told as they have a wedding and coach party in we had to order from a set menu. The was only 3 mains, Fish and chips roast beef and a veggie option. 1 ordered fish 3 ordered beef. 40 mins later when we asked where our food was, then they brought the mains out, At this point we hadn't even received the starters, we asked for bread rolls whilst we waiting an was told no they for coach party only and a very rude man showed the set menu and said " where do you see bread rolls on the menu" eventually we had the starters ( the soup didn't even come with a bread roll) and then the mains, the fish portion was tiny, the roast beef was like chewing leather. the desert was fine. we stay here every year to meet up with friends but this year will be the last time we stay here. as for the hotel the location is good and rooms a good size. some bits are dated some windows have rotted to the point of some of the frame missing.

Staff extremely helpful and friendly. The place itself was overall a bit broken. Everywhere certain things were broken or chipped. Our bathroom door was broken but was fixed. Water marks all down the wall near our room. The bed was lovely and comfortable and it could be a beautiful hotel if it was fixed and maintained better.
