Nice hotel in good location

New hotel in central business district in walking distance to Opera, Canton Tower, etc. The hotel rooms are very modern but cosy. The hotel provides complimentary lounge for all guests with 24 hour drinks and food. I gave it 4 stars because there is no recognition of me as premium Accor member.

One week per month at Grand Mercure Gz

Good morning. I am staying and will continue to stay approx one week per month at the Grand Mercure Hotel Gz. For this reason this is very important to feel confortable. The first room I received had some air conditioning problem, and the room smell smoke. For this reason I change my room the first day. During my previous stay in this hotel, my room had a separate Bathroom (very nice room) However, for my last stay, the bathroom was "open" in the entrance. I was wondering if they are different design of rooms. Generally speaking, I am very happy with the service, the quality of the hotel, the breakfast and this is a great location.

I was stay at room which can open window but unfortunately there were midnight very noise rubbishy care under my room from 3-5 am midnight , i asked change to quite room but the room has very strong decoration smelling which I can’t stay , I have to be tolerated until 6am due to midnight I can’t sleeping all night and this was most terrible stay my life

Strategic location, central business area and easy to move around with Taxi or Metro. There are also near to Guangzhou town and good restaurant surrounded. But there are some area which I think it should improve, which is the room lighting control, the sleeping mode is too bright and not properly setup, electric curtain motor is too noisy.

The hotel lobby is on the 5th floor and the rooms on the 6th to 10th floor. There is a lounge with 24h soft drinks included for all guests and beer/wine in the late afternoon/evening. The design of the room is modern but there was some misconception in my room especially in the bathroom area (doors opening in the wrong direction making the access difficult and water outside the shower area dropping with the door). In the hotel corridor, there are carpets which doesn't ease the transport of your luggage. Breakfast was OK.

New hotel but needs better maintenance.

The hotel is very nice & in a good location, the open bar near reception is a great idea. Free parking was a plus too as Guangzhou can be expensive. The room was very large with a separate hall area with dressing area which 2 doors led off to the toilet & the shower. The toilet was the type you get that originated in Japan……heated seat, water washing & drying! It had a complimentary mini bar which had a small selection of water, soft drinks & beer. I paid for breakfast having had many in accor hotels but this breakfast was a disappointment for me, I would save your money and visit a café/restaurant nearby or even Starbucks…. The hotel is new so it seems to have its teething troubles, my room master power switch did not work. I did inform the front desk before i headed out to dinner and they said i needed another key & would get it double checked. After returning late in the evening the power still did not work so i went to the front desk again & someone came to my room to help & said maintenance could come and fix it now but it was very late & i wanted to sleep. On checkout i mentioned my problems again so hopefully the room could be fixed for the next guest. I did also think there would be some offer of compensation for the inconvenience (maybe refund of the breakfast) but it was just an apology which i don't think really was sufficient based on the price of the stay & my platinum status with accor. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful but there didn't seem to be any appreciation of the fact that having no lighting working in your room was a major issue.
