We had a fantastic week - excellent position with great views, good access to the sea and a short and pleasant walk into the centre of Dubrovnik. Pool area is a little crowded, but the hotel's section of sea is really good. Good organisation at breakfast despite the Covid challenge, proactive staff and quick service. A particular thanks to Maris who made our check-in experience very positive despite our early arrival.

With my husband we were disappointed at the very beginning when the staff at the front desk wanted to gave us a room with a park view even though we had a reservation for a sea view room. Also they wanted to charge extra than agreed for an upgrade to a halfboard. The first impression failed even though we got a welcome glas of Champagne. Unfortunately our stay didn't continue better until we didn't complain and demand to talk to the manager and even then...he promised to get us a better room but it didn't happened (we stayed at the hotel 6 nights). The next day the cleaning staff lost my pajama and found it after 5 days; we had to complain about it all the time so they took us serious. First dinner was a disaster; soup didn't taste at all, steak that my husband ordered was burned and the quality of the meat was poor. We assumed they changed the chef since the rest of the stay food improve remarkably. I guess the only good thing of our stay at Rixos Dubrovnik was the staff at the restaurant (except the chef of the first night). Also at the Hotel Beach it seemed that no one knows what the rules are; we asked the fist day if we may use beds in the first row to the sea and one of the staff member told us that it is free of charge, later we found out that it wasn't free but they allowed us to use it for free as we got that information from one of them. Also a few days later they try to move us from there even though the agreement was that we stay there as long as we were at the Hotel; also the Beach wasn't full (90 rooms out of 240 were occupied at the time of our stay at the Hotel). The room was newly renovated (as they were putting it on a web page) but the bathtub wasn't functioning (the water was leaking). My husband had a previous experience at this exact hotel (8-5 years ago) and it was a lot better than this time. We can't imagine that other Rixos Hotels around the World are organized as this one in Dubrovnik; we are not planning to come back.

The hotel itself, the staff and the views are just incredible. Everyone - from the front desk staff, to the 11th floor housekeeping manager, to the spa manager, and Chef Pratap Koirala - was very nice, professional and pleasant to speak with. The two biggest issues, which unfortunately significantly impacted our experience, were the beach chair situation and the loud DJ music in the afternoon. We understand if the beach cannot be private due to city regulations but then there really needs to be stricter supervision over who is allowed in the pool/outdoor bar/patio area. On more than one occasion, we had people moving our belongings from our beach chairs to other chairs while we were in the ocean. And, if you didn't grab chairs by 8:30am, there were no chairs available. We even asked the pool boys to help but no proper chairs were available. As a result, my wife and I ended up laying on the wall/rocks on two full days! Not exactly comfortable and not where we expected to be seated on our honeymoon. We also noticed many people just leaving their towels for hours on end and then returned end of day (when other guests could've used their chairs in the interim). There was also inconsistency every day over what can be "reserved" and what is free to use regarding the beach chairs. We also heard some guests being charged for chairs, when others weren't charged - for the same chairs. As we became friends with other guests, they too expressed real concern with the same situation (as a side note - several of them were social media influencers and/or had high profiles/celebrity status/football players). We are not the type to be "entitled" guests but we were expexting to spend our week in your resort differently, and not having to battle over beach chairs every day. It was a huge disappointment for us. As for the spa - we booked a couples massage (again, it was our honeymoon so very keen to have a special, memorable experience). The massage therapists were great but it was impossible to enjoy the massages with the loud, blaring DJ music that we heard throughout the entire massage. And when we tried to use the sauna, heated pool and other spa amenities, it continued to be a challenge to relax because there were a lot of children running through the spa going from the salt room to turkish baths to pools etc. Again, there really needs to be greater supervision over who can use those spa amenities (and perhaps an age restriction too - i.e., no one under 18). The DJ music, in our personal opinion, brings a very different vibe to the whole resort. It's supposed to be a 5-star, exclusive hotel but in reality, that kind of pounding music which is heard throughout the entire property creates more of a "party scene" for the masses vs. a truly exclusive and high-end resort. Given my wife's Croatian roots and our new love for Dubrovnik, we are definitely keen to go back to Croatia and would love to stay at your resort again and recommend your resort to our network. But, in full transparency, we would only want to return if changes can be made regarding the beach chair/patio situation and spa area.

Short stay with you for daughter’s 21st birthday. Sun beds were a really stressful part of the stay - not enough for everyone and people put towels on beds first thing in the morning and then don’t turn until the afternoon. Pool staff should be able to remove them - then flow would happen. We felt obliged to get up very early and be at the pool to secure a bed. Cabana’s are in high demand and those in king suite’s have priority so suggest you stop other guests being allowed to book them as this leads to demand outstripping supply & frustration. Your pool staff then get shouted at which just isn’t fair on them. They work so hard. Staff need more training to have some of the basics of good customer service in place and to feel valued by by colleagues. We witnessed staff being reprimanded which isn’t a nice experience for them or for guests. The pool staff and beach bar staff worked relentlessly to try to meet everyone’s expectations but they just weren’t able to do this. A point of safety is the hand rail throughout the stairwell which isn’t fixed properly to the wall and doesn’t feel secure & the fire door on our floor was continually propped open with a fire extinguisher- the irony wasn’t lost on me and I kept shutting it. I have never written this kind of review before but we expected a much better experience from the Rixos brand & feel you can improve with staff training.

Overall a great experience staying at this property . We really enjoyed the complimentary spa facilities , breakfast buffet and swimming at the private beach. However ,we have some suggestions in some areas to improve - 1) To have a life guard near the beach or the pool for safety reasons 2) To check the bathroom condition ( room condition in general) before allotting the room . There was a clogged drainage in the bath tub in our case. However , that was resolved later 3) Table attendants should be well informed of their duty about cleaning the tables and sanitising them well . We noticed untidy tables been allotted to us for breakfast and dinner on both days of our stay. Note : Special thanks to Kasima ( waiter ) for great and friendly hospitality and also to Donald ( an indian chef) who prepared a customised dish for us .
