Stay: January 26-31 booked via AMEX FHR Raffles London at The OWO positions itself as a flagship hotel defined by discretion, elegance, and emotional intelligence. Unfortunately, my stay did not consistently meet those standards. What was intended to be a restorative and playfully elegant experience instead became my fourth hotel in England and third in London where privacy, discretion, and guest wellbeing were compromised through a pattern of operational failures, inconsistent butler conduct, and weak leadership oversight. At check-in and in subsequent conversations with the head butler (Romas), I clearly disclosed that I have been the target of prolonged stalking and harassment by a former employer over the past two years, including attempts at politicization. I explicitly stated that the color of my clothing, food choices, or placement of personal items carry no political meaning, and that privacy, predictability, and calm are essential to my wellbeing given my medical history. While this context was verbally acknowledged, it was not consistently respected operationally. Key issues during my stay included: • Repeated failures of in-room electrical outlets and charging infrastructure, which mysteriously resolved only after engineering intervention • Disorganized spa scheduling, delayed treatments, malfunctioning recovery equipment, and visible staff distraction during recovery-focused services • Butler miscommunication regarding confirmed treatment durations and guest preferences • Multiple breakfast errors across days despite clear instructions • Recurring Wi-Fi and charging disruptions • Disturbing lapses in privacy, including guest behavior and conversations that suggested poor internal discretion controls • Inappropriate or poorly judged butler interactions after I disclosed sensitive personal context A planned “James Bond–themed” day (Van Cleef & Arpels, Spy Bar, Kioku) further highlighted brand misalignment. Transportation choices, venue recommendations, and the overall execution lacked the polish, discretion, and situational awareness expected at this level. I provided real-time feedback requesting greater privacy and brand alignment. One butler, Alinda, demonstrated professionalism, discretion, and emotional intelligence consistent with Raffles’ stated values. Her conduct stood in contrast to other interactions, which at times felt careless or intrusive. I want to be clear: I remained courteous and adaptive throughout my stay. However, the cumulative effect of these issues eroded trust in the hotel’s leadership culture and internal controls. A property of this caliber should not place the burden of maintaining boundaries and discretion on the guest. Kindness is my default, but kindness must coexist with standards. I share this feedback in good faith, with the hope that Raffles London at The OWO strengthens its leadership oversight, butler training, and privacy discipline. The hotel has extraordinary potential, but this stay revealed significant gaps between brand promise and lived experience. While I appreciate the efforts of individual staff members who demonstrated professionalism, the inconsistency of service, lapses in discretion, and need for repeated boundary reinforcement significantly impacted my sense of safety and ease. At this level, a guest should not have to manage their own privacy.
