I really want to love this hotel but as a 5 star hotel, there are a number of basic details that even 4 star hotels get done effortlessly. For one, the check in was surprisingly manual. Having to write out a check in form with my details. I expected they would already have those details from my booking, even though I booked through a third party. Most hotels only ask for a credit card and that's it. But that was almost insignificant compared to the room tech experience. It wasn't made clear to me how to access the wifi compared to other hotels which made for a stressful half an hour trying to figure it out. Calling reception from my room took quite a while for them to pickup too. Worst of all, almost everything is exclusively controlled from a tablet. Turning the tv on and off, even adjusting the volume and changing channels all need to be done from a tablet (not great when it's pitch black). As well as controlling the lights and blinds. I work in tech and this is a classic case of over-engineering. At least give guest a second option for physical controls or tv remotes because that's easier than forcing them to become an expert of your custom room controls when they should be relaxing. Lastly they have a lovely restaurant - Dixson and Sons. But the opening hours are too limited. It isn't open every day or for lunch and seems to close a bit too early at 9pm instead of around at least 10 or 10.30pm. The same limitations apply to the room service. The last 2 issues seem to be a result of them perhaps trying to be more cost effective in order to be high end, but I feel it's ruining the experience. If they could resolve them I'd gladly come here more often, which I really want to. But I felt robbed of a relaxed and delightful experience by the complicated tech and limited restaurant hours.

The reviews are spot on about this hotel. It has great potential due to location and beautiful interior design however the service is letting it down. Reception team are lacking is so many ares, quite possibly the worst reception experience I have encountered. Rooms facing the street are very noisy. My room was not clean enough on arrival, housekeeping need to have better checks in place, Finally I left feedback during my stay but received no reply or rectification. No Accor benefits despite being Gold. It appears this property needs some management attention. On a positive note the bar and restaurant are gorgeous and the quality of food very good

I recently stayed at this hotel, and it exceeded my expectations. The reception staff was incredibly friendly, the rooms were spacious and clean, and the amenities were top-notch. The central location made it convenient to explore the city. I highly recommend it for a comfortable and enjoyable stay.

The locations was really good. The furniture and room deco were pretty new as the hotel itself is fairly new. The room was pretty clean but the shower and toilet needed more attention on cleaning. I noticed later that there was credit card surcharge ($15) taken out of my credit card but I wasn’t informed at all by the receptionist when checking in. There wasn’t a doona cover tow flat sheets were put for the doona which didn’t stay nicely together. Overall, it was average.

Good location near Museum and Town Hall stations. I liked the incorporation of the old building into the new. However… For such a new hotel, and one that advertises as 5* and a luxury property, I was surprised at some things. There were scratches and scuff marks in the room. The cleaning wasn’t what you’d expect from a “luxury” hotel, and there were areas of the bathroom that hadn’t been cleaned. The room was very small and I had issues with the internet and streaming. I wouldn’t stay again given there are so many other options in Sydney.
