Overall an excellent experience. The hotel is located right in the city centre which is very convenient. At soon as you arrive you are greeted by reception staff who were attentive and ready to help. The room was very clean and comfortable. If you are looking for a hotel in the city would definitely recommend this one

The room was spacious, clean and lovely. However very noisy all night with outside street noise. The room and our level in the hallway also had an odour of garbage, perhaps coming from the garbage disposal shute? It had that fermented garbage smell that you get in alleyways where restaurants are. You may also want to check the locked cupboard near the front doorway or roof space as there was something making a scratching noise all night. Unless that's in the garbage disposal also??

Absolutely loved our stay at The Porter House Hotel — stylish, comfy rooms, warm and friendly staff, and a bar + restaurant that are real gems. The heritage-meets-modern design gives the place a unique charm, and the location in the heart of Sydney’s CBD made getting around a breeze. Whether for a night out or a city escape, this hotel hits the sweet spot of comfort, character and convenience.

This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in Australia, not even better than an Ibis. Staff there is not helpful and in pokerface, eg, when I called for tooth paste, the male staff who came to deliver it seems like just lost one million dollar with a pokerface, no smile on his face, I could only see bad emotion on his face. By the way, don’t be fooled with the picture containing an old fashioned building and Porter House characters on it. You won’t stay there, you will stay in the modern building next door which didn’t showed up in their propaganda pictures. The building you will really stay is not what you see and expect. They are lying. I also find the baggage tag from previous customer with her name in my suite, which means no completely clean was made after she checked out. Bathtub was also a little bit dirty. As a not bad hotel, they didn’t have a doorman to help travelers with luggage, who is expected to show up for a good hotel. They have luggage cart, but none of the check in staff asked whether we need our luggage to be delivered to our room. If you are an elite Accor member, please don’t expect any room upgrade and very late check out from this hotel. I booked a junior suite and got no any upgrade as a Platinum member. Check out time is 11pm, even earlier than most of Ibis. No menu for a welcome drink. You just got what they told you: there choices of wine(and not in good taste). I just can’t believe this is the way they serve welcome drink in a Mgallery. Breakfast is fine with its taste, but it was tooooo slow. You have to wait up to about 25 minutes to get them. This is the worst Mgallery hotel I’ve ever seen, it only have the name of Mgallery without the spirit. I would say choose Sofitel or Pullman or even Novotel to guarantee you a more pleasant journey in Sydney. They have much better service than this hotel with the nearly same cost. Don’t WASTE your money in this unworthy hotel.
