Mercure Alice Springs Resort 4 gwiazdki

What a terrible start after a 5 hour coach trip. Tried to book into 2 separate rooms (that were pre booked 4 months ago) and told 1 was already occupied by someone else with the same surname. Saw the Mercure paperwork and they had crossed off our name and put someone else's name there. Gave us another key so we went to our new room, opened the door and it was already occupied - so much for safety. Thank goodness the occupants were not in the room, as it could have been very embarrassing for all concerned! Went back to desk, and finally given another key, The young man at the desk did not seem to know what he was doing. Unfortunately it was in Palm Court and next door to the cleaners room. Banging, shouting and laughter early every morning. There was a glass "security" door near our room and it was either being slammed closed all hours of day and night or left open. I am sure management could put a different closing mechanism on this door. Breakfast was a hit and miss but dinners were fine. Funny smell when we first entered the building. Bathrooms very very small and could have been cleaned better. Beds were comfortable. Would not stay at again.

It’s dated. Rooms are not in great shape, bathroom especially is in need of update ,door didn’t close. View outside room 210 is of air con boxes. Room is cold. We needed heater on throughout. Door into building closes with a lot of noise. Reception lost our booking. Restaurant was ok

We stayed 1 night in this hotel, which we paid with my Mastercard during our stay. However, 2 days after we left the hotel charged my Mastercard a second time with the same amount. I've contacted the hotel several times with request to check & refund the double payment without any response from their side.

A good resort but the grounds are not secure. An intruder tried to enter the room at night and brazenly hung around even when repelled, only fleeing when management arrived. Given Alice Springs' current notoriety for marauders and crime, the hotel should strengthen security. Police are overwhelmed with calls so can rarely help.

As we are loyal members of the Accor group of hotels we usually know what standards to expect and this was no exception. We appreciate the two for one meals and free drink on arrival. The resort was full as there are were a lot of tourists. We were greeted by the very helpful and friendly Javier from Peru at reception. We felt very welcome after a very long day's travel. Our room was comfortable and clean, although could do with some refreshment. For instance the curtains did not fully close and the lights outside shined in all night. The bathroom screen could do with a update but these are minor issues. Although not on the free drink availability we really loved the Mocktails at the bar -amazing and quite a few choices. I also appreciated the security of the resort with a high fence around and outside lighting as Alice Springs has been in the news for its recent lawlessness. The hotel is also walking distance to the town centre which is another drawcard. Hopefully Alice Springs will regain its good reputation for encouraging the tourists to its wonderful tourist attractions
