I stayed on 08/09 on a v quiet Monday. Had the restaurant to ourselves for dinner at around 7.30pm, amazing food - really recommend the Beef bourguignon. Everyone wore masks around the hotel and staff were always wearing them. Sanitiser points everywhere. I felt it was safe and clean and I was happy to stay there.

Not happy overall as I booked via booking.com and the hotel took it upon themselves to fully charge me with the credit card on there without asking me how I’d like to pay

Poor waiting service, food disgusting well done steak raw! Staff even asked for copy of image! Other steak very poor quality, all gristle. Image also requested by staff to show chef. Tie nails in room ( not ours) no internet, tv signal non existent unable to report as room phone did not work. Not impressed stayed as a birthday present for Harry Potter studio.

The hotel was not what I expected the room very small, the bed was very soft and dipped, this needs replacing. Restaurant area was like a canteen and the menu very limited. However the grounds were lovely. It would appear that only half the hotel was being used. The staff were professional and polite. This was a gift one night stay with dinner and fizz it just didn't live up to our expectations!!

We booked to visit Harry Potter and to celebrate my granddaughters 11th birthday. Sadly H/P was closed, we still came up for the break as we really enjoy the hotel and grounds.The hotel was well stocked with masks and hand sanitizer. Two negative points, It was hard to find the staff, I had to stop some men in the corridor to ask if they were staff, as the bar area lacked staff plus reception staff were sometimes non existent.. The food served in the bar area was excellent and huge portions and service was prompt and well presented and very tasty. The breakfast wasnt the same, no buffet, very poor choice on the menu, this was a shame, we loved the old buffet breakfast., which always had an amazing choice. But otherwise a lovely stay, lovely room, we had the pool to ourselves. All staff were very helpful and very polite at all times. We are now back on 29/30th as Harry Potter reopens and we look forward to our hotel return. Plus I was unlucky in my request for one of our two favourite rooms, I think we have been coming to the hotel either from 2013 or 2014.

Stayed after only two days of reopening. Quite eery as I didn't see another guest. Service excellent given the circumstances however I have been overcharged and cannot get a response from the hotel. The room was good however the mattress on the bed was shocking. You could feel the wooden slats of the base. Sad as it let down the room which was not cheap.

We only stayed for one night but the room and all the facilities we used were great and the breakfast was excellent . The staff went out of their way to please and we would certainly recommend this hotel and stay again if the circumstances arose.

First room we was put in was not a premium room which we had booked, it was dirty everywhere; hairs in the bed; damp in bathroom; draft through window in bedroom and dirty mugs. The receptionist kindly gave us a second room which was better but still not perfect but we stayed there as not to cause a bother as the receptionist was lovely and accommodating. My partner and myself was late for breakfast without realising we got there at 09.58 and breakfast finished at 10am. (Never trust a man to read breakfast times) and the lady in the cafe was so lovely and still offered to provide/cook us breakfast, it was amazing we both had eggs Benedict and was cooked to perfection. Compliments to the chef and their team. The overall stay was okay and served its purpose but wont be staying again.

We booked this hotel in order to attend the Harry Potter studio experience. It was very conveniently located for this. An added bonus was the very excellent hotel restaurant. The hotel staff were amazing. The hotel was also well placed for our visit to central London (and a lot cheaper than central London hotels). The only criticisms we had were that although liqueur coffees were on the dessert menu the bar man did not know how to make them and when we booked in the reception staff did not take our credit card which caused problems in the bar later.

Stayed for a week as attending a training course locally. My company pays for the trip, however being away for a week wanted to stay in a hotel different from a standard premier inn. This hotel provided that, with helpful staff and a lovely setting. Service was sometimes slow however during this current climate, this was understood. Room I stayed in was very clean, smart and had all the essentials including a nice view over the gardens. One downside to the rooms are the thin walls.

The deputy duty manager Alex provided excellent customer services. He took ownership of an issue with another booking made in error. After contacting both the local and central booking teams without a satisfactory outcome, Alex intervened and fully resolved the issue on our behalf.

The hotel looks beautiful from the outside but we felt it was a bit untidy and ragged round the edges in some places. For instance, the bath robes were rough and there was no light near the door so when adjusting the heating you cannot see the screen and we did need to adjust it because the room was freezing. We had to plug in the extra heater provided, the products in the bathroom were tiny and the bathroom was also small. I upgraded on booking to a superior barn block room, I really don't know what extra this got us.

The hotel is tired and needs extensive refurbishment. The meeting rooms are old need redecoration. The room was cold and there were 2 plug in heaters which were provided which shows that this has been a complaint before and honestly I did not feel comfortable going to sleep with these plugged in. The restaurant feels more like a canteen, and not somewhere that you would have an evening dinner. I think if the hotel had been classified as a 3 star I would have expected the standard that was presented.
