Unclean and unhygienic

I recently stayed at Ibis Brussels Erasmus and was utterly appalled by the lack of basic hygiene standards. Upon checking in, I was told that the room had been thoroughly cleaned and prepared after the previous guest’s departure. On the surface, everything appeared to be in order—the bed was neatly made, and the room looked clean. However, what I discovered later that night was beyond shocking. When I pulled back the covers to get into bed, I was horrified to find period blood stains on the bedsheet, clearly left behind by the previous occupant. This absolutely revolting discovery made it clear that the hotel had not changed the bedding between guests, despite their assurances. It’s one thing to overlook a small detail, but failing to change the sheets—especially when they are visibly soiled—is inexcusable and utterly disgusting. This incident not only ruined my stay but also raised serious concerns about the hotel’s overall cleanliness and the health risks it poses to its guests. If this is the level of care they take with something as basic as changing the bed linens, it makes me wonder what other corners they are cutting in terms of cleanliness and sanitation. I strongly urge anyone considering a stay at Ibis to reconsider. A clean bed is the bare minimum one should expect from any hotel, and if they can’t even meet that standard, they don’t deserve your business. I will certainly never be returning and will advise others to steer clear of this establishment.

Good clean rooms and staff very friendly and helpful. would be good to have a kettle in the room though

Very poor hotel experience

Ibis budget was wat closer to my meeting point, but according to their website, Erasmus was renewed and had a restaurant. So I made a reservation for a superior room in this Ibis. The room on the top floor, was clean and well maintained. And that is where it stopped. The airco did not work and inside the room it was as hot as outside, 30° Celsius. And when I asked about it, they couldn’t alter that and advised to use the ventilator that was in the room. And that ventilator indicates that they are aware of the non functioning air conditioner. During the whoe night the room remained very hot and with a noisy ventilator hard to get a good night sleep. Non of the bedside lights were connected and on the right hand side there was no socket. And the Velux roof window was poorly adjusted, it just closed and did not stay at the desired position. The restaurant, is a not really a restaurant. They offered a non staffed buffet with some lettuce and dressings, and a some warm things that had been in chafing dishes way to long. For the Evening buffet you had to pay at the bar. And when I asked at my checkout to add those expenses (44 Euro) to my reward points, the lady reacted like I was a complete idiot and stated that they had never done that. That means she is not giving the clients what they are entitled to, as the ALL website clearly states you get points for Restaurant meals. How I get the points for those € 44 is unclear. All and all, by far the worst ibis I have ever visited and a very bad experience. To end on a positive note, the male receptionist and the man behind the bar, in the evening of my arrival day, were very friendly and helpful.
