Lovely gentleman on reception. He also managed to serve us at the bar before going back to reception to serve others. Could do with an extra pillow each in the room. Good budget stay

No reception to check in, one man with a laptop perched on a table. Room was very small, couldn’t move around the bed, and awkward shuffle around the toilet to get into the bathroom and shut the door, no where to hang clothes and only one mirror in the bathroom that above the sink that I could only see half my face in, partly because I’m only 5ft but the sink depth meant I couldn’t get near it! We went out for dinner and returned around 10pm expecting the bar to be open, coffee machine was working, fridges stocked but when we asked if we could get a drink, we were told it wasn’t open, asked if we could buy a bottle of water for the room but again told they didn’t have any, very poor service considering there isn’t provisions in the room either. Was expecting a continental breakfast, what we received was a paper bag with an orange, a carton of apple juice, a croissant wrapped in a napkin, a mini chocolate muffin, plain yogurt, couldn’t get a cup of tea or coffee as there was a sign up to say there wasn’t any milk. If it was due to covid, why in particular wasn’t the muffin or croissant individually wrapped, who were these handled by??!! Needless to say out of what we were given we only ate the croissant and had the juice , if I’d have known we couldn’t choose what options we could have I wouldn’t have paid for breakfast as there is a Wetherspoon’s around the corner. There was only a young man in the same place with a laptop to speak to but he only apologised but couldn’t do anything. Won’t be choosing this chain of hotel again.

We ended up in a room where the air conditioning wasn’t working and the room was boiling. We told the guy on the desk he went to try and fix it but couldn’t. He then said he would try to find us another room which we then had to wait over an hour for as he was alone and lots of people were checking in so we had to just wait. The new room he finally put us in was a twin room and we wanted a double. But we didn’t want to hang around waiting anymore so we just accepted it. Also there was no manager on site! Just one young guy who was trying to do his best to help everyone and he said he was actually the security guard of the hotel not a receptionist. I hope my refund goes through in the next few days as agreed.

A fake window and the tale of the twin beds

For what it's worth, for 55 quid a night with breakfast included we couldn't be too choosy. The lack of a double bed was a fun experience and I found my self falling down the crease in between the singles a little too often. The room looked like an IKEA advert but with less furniture. There was a single chair and not a single surface to put anything on, but the room was painted a cheery electric blue and yellow colour. My favourite feature was the locked 'window' that had the magical capability of turning the sun on and off with a push off a button. At the right angle you could see the breeze blocks behind the opaque piece of glass. Note- in case of fire do not bother trying to break the window. Rather hilariously due to covid they politely tell you on the welcome card to leave the window open for maximum ventilation, but i guess they wanted to protect us from the lovely concrete view. The beds were comfy, linen clean, but as my boyfriend put it, the room had 'prison cell vibes'. I would have to agree. Breakfast in the morning as chosen the night before was given to us in a little paper bag, butter and jam provided with the crossaint, but alas no knife to spread it. Wooden spoon provided to eat yogurt with though. The lack of reception is throughly confusing. My heart goes out to what I believe was the only member of staff on in the whole building, who was no where to be seen when I arrived but later set up camp with a laptop on one of the uncomfortable looking bar stools near the entrance, the plastic leaves stuck on the wall jabbing in to his neck. Over all, I had a great time. Absolutely novelty of how bizarre everything and the ability for companies to cut corners was wonderous. Even managed to laugh about the complete lack of shower products (they instead provided us with one tiny bar of soap). Would go again, but only so people would believe me.

Beautiful hotel. So clean and tidy. Room we had was on a corner so lovely and spacious. Comfortable bed and brilliant shower.
