Solo traveller and I deliberately picked this hotel based on a blogger's review on how convenient the location was given that the airport shuttle bus was literally right at its doorstep. Coming from rural New Zealand, I had complicated flight logistics involving a domestic and international flight, so I opted to use a travel agent for a change. I asked the travel agent to book the hotel for me as he recommended others that were cheaper but I insisted on the Novotel Ambassador at Dongdaemun because of the airport shuttle bus. Little did I realise that by using a travel agent, I was unable to accumulate any of the Accor membership points (which was a huge pity as this was the other reason why I choose this hotel). I stayed in the Standard room with queen size bed with breakfast included (as I'm diabetic and must have breakfast to keep my glucose levels stable). The room was small but very cosy and had everything that I needed as a solo traveller: hairdryer, safe box, coffee machine with pods, toiletries, towels and room service. The room was very clean, air conditioning was at a comfortable level, the bidet was a luxury and it was great to have a rain shower too. I liked the Health & Safety measures: emergency torch at the door, fire extinguisher in the room and safety rappeling line in room that were all visible and accessible in case of an emergency. The staff were amazing and I must say a special 'Thank You' to Jay at the front desk as I had informed him that I was doing a DMZ tour during my stay and informed him that I was unable to have the hotel breakfast due to my pickup being earlier than the breakfast. I asked if the restaurant could kindly pack me a sandwich and they packed me a box with a continental breakfast instead. Jay went the extra mile to ensure that this was arranged for me and it was greatly appreciated. The concierge staff were knowledgable and were able to support me enquiries about transport, nearby food outlets, etc... The only complaint that I have would be the fact that the Accor membership appears to be user unfriendly as I was unable to accumulate points despite the hotel accommodation comprising of more than half of my budget. I tried to collect points at the cake shop in the lobby and this was also declined as I did not have a 'paid membership'. I sincerely hope that management reviews this policy to make it easier for members to accumulate points as it is pointless of having the membership otherwise. Having said this, I will not hesitate to recommend the Novotel Ambassador at Dongdaemun based on the positive points stated above and this will be my default location when I return to Seoul again (which I hope won't be too far away in the future).

Went from End September to early October. I was most impressed by the staff. Their attention to good service was much appreciated. I was attended to by Louis, Lucy and Wendy at L19. They went through great lengths to answer my queries, navigate local apps and advise me on the hotel itineraries for breakfast and the use of facilities. I loved the location of the hotel. 3 station lines 2,4,5 were nearby. There was also a bus stop for the airport limousine just 100m away from the hotel. There were plenty of eateries and shopping nearby (e.g. Doota mall, hyundai department store, DunDun mall). The rooms were comfortable and relatively well designed. I liked that there were sufficient closet space, USB chargers at each bedside. The apartments also had a washing machine and microwave and the hotel also provided manuals for us to operate. Overall I had an excellent stay and I would definitely choose Novotel Dongdaemun again.

Had the pleasure of a one night stay recently. Wonderful friendly staff. Smart decor, nice indoor pool on the 20th floor and a bar with views of the mountains to the north of the city. Good breakfast. Only thing less than great is the room size, but it’s not a deal breaker and would only be an issue if travelling with a lot of luggage and kids.
