I stayed in the Mountain View suite where the living room couch was tattered and disgusting, the bed sheets had stains and room itself was very outdated. The hotel was clearly overbooked and the front desk staff was overwhelmed. I then left to stay at the fairmont in SF; learn from them.

Subpar Standards

The check in experience was no problem. The room was ok, but nothing fancy for what was supposed to be a “King Suite bedroom” for an additional $77. The problem was the day of checkout on 1/31/2021. Around 11:30am my boyfriend left our room on the 11th floor to pick up food in the lobby from the delivery driver. While inside the elevator, a party of 3 entered WITH NO MASKS. (Although signs are posted EVERYWHERE stating “one person or one family unit per elevator car”). My boyfriend asked them to put on their masks and they acted as if they didn’t understand. They appeared to be part of a wedding party. As my boyfriend passed the lobby, it was obvious there were wedding pictures being taken, MOST of the almost 20 “guests” without masks. My boyfriend complained to the front desk, Perla, and she claimed she informed security. After my boyfriend returned from getting our food, there were now at least 15 people from the wedding party in the lobby (including the bride and groom) ALL NOT WEARING MASKS. My boyfriend complained to Perla again and was upset that nothing was done the first time. Upon our departure later that day, my boyfriend and I spoke to Perla, again, and a “manager”, Narth, to make a complaint again. All they said was they will “talk to security”. Seriously? There is a PANDEMIC going on and there were at least 15 PEOPLE in the LOBBY of the HOTEL, ALL NOT WEARING MASKS? First of all, WHY was it even allowed? Second of all, WHY weren’t they told to put on masks the first time my boyfriend complained?! It is unfortunate that we chose to stay at Fairmont because of their high reviews and supposedly high standards regarding Heath and Safety Protocols for Santa Clara and it definitely did not meet our expectations. It was not worth the $260 for the upgraded “King Suite bedroom in addition to the Essential Package for complimentary parking, late check out and dining discounts”. We will never stay at the Fairmont San Jose ever again.

There was no bottled water in the room! I was awake at 2:00am unable to sleep because I was so thirsty. Not even a cup to drink from the tap. Phone didn’t work, we had to call from our cell phone. Our sink didn’t drain. Only one very, very thin blanket in middle of winter. We realize it’s Covid but they could have spared two bottles of water for the room. Front desk person was courteous. We have stayed at this property many times and we were very surprised by the lack of attention to these details.

I upgraded to a suite, which essentially was 2 rooms combined. The furniture was old and stained, light fixtures falling out of the ceiling, wallpaper peeling...for a proclaimed 4 star hotel, the bathroom was terrible! Shower was a single tiny stall no room for shampoo/conditioner. There were no bathrobes and it just didn't feel very 'nice' for what I paid, it was not worth staying and I don't intend to return. The staff were all kind and helpful though.
