My husband and I were returning to the Fairmont for our anniversary after getting married there 5 years ago. The service at that time was incredible. I expect the staff try to make an exceptional experience for a wedding couple, so I knew this trip wouldn’t have quite as much of the “red carpet” treatment, but I still expected more than what we found. I did note our anniversary when I called to make the reservation and the person on the phone was wonderful, noted the anniversary, and we were gifted with a lovely dish of chocolates and a card in our room. However, when we checked in, I was asked if I ever stayed there before; fine, but it would’ve been nice if that was known already. The doormen sometimes got the door, sometimes not. I felt we were on our own; as we drove through to check in, the doormen didn’t greet us or ask us if we needed help with parking or check-in. I spent most of the vacation trying to figure out where to eat, as many nearby restaurants were either closed or limited due to covid or due to the off-season. It would’ve been nice for the hotel to provide a list of local options for food. Even the information on the Fairmont’s own hotels/room-service/order out were confusing. A concierge would have been nice too. The property is as beautiful as I remember and it did seem to be kept up well. So, the disappointment was really that the staff didn’t seem to go above and beyond (with the exception of the person I spoke to on the phone to make the reservation), but rather just barely met the requirements of their jobs. A few days ago I stayed at a hotel for half the price when making a long drive, and had a much warmer reception from its staff. Maybe everyone is burnt out from covid. I debate whether or not we would return in the future. If we hadn’t gotten married there, I would not.

Only positive about my experience was the location. Rooms were outdated. Service was bad, staff members looked like they did not want to be there. Food was atrocious. It blows my mind that you guys can actually charge your guests for such horrendous food. This hotel is a disgrace to the region of Charlevoix.

We arrived and were completely ignored by valet. Signage to get to the front desk was not clear. Costs were not upfront over the phone. Had to pay extra to use the pool. Ridiculous!!!!! Dinner was disappointing. Worst food we had in Quebec. Room, although clean, was tiny and the window was small. Not much of a view. We even told front desk that we were on our honeymoon. They said the room was an upgrade, but if it was, I’d hate to see the other rooms.

We loved the location. Had a great time. But we did not enjoy the food at the restaurant - The St-Laurent. We felt the food was overpriced. We understand that this is probably related to Covid and the resulting shortage of people in the service industry. Despite this we enjoyed our stay, but we are informing our friends to not plan on eating at the hotel for now.

Nice walking paths and enjoyed the spa. No concierge and front desk was too busy to help. Hotel appears a bit dated with furnishings and carpeting well worn and aging. Hostess at restaurant not so helpful.

Our first room was sub-standard. You should be ashamed for having Fairmont rooms that are that small. The bathroom door could not open fully because it hit the side of the bed. Roger at the front desk was able to book us into a much larger room for our second night.

The room was very tired (pillows were lumpy etc). There were no robes in the room. Only one restaurant was open and it was very busy. The food was not up to Fairmont standards.

The restaurant did not had room for us to have diner. I get the lack of staff everywhere, but the frontdesk should have planned this and ask us when we checked in to make a reservation for us.

Well located hotel with a clean bathroom but the rest of the room was dirty.

We had an excellent booking experience with France-Marie but the stay was an issue. Our first stay at a Fairmont and expected the cost to match with cleanliness but that was only the case with the bathroom. The room carpet was very dirty and worn out in some places. The rooms are well insulated for sound which was a positive and bedding felt good and clean.

Hi, I was very surprise to see the room mate not wearing is mask in our room when cleaning it, we surprised her when we were arriving from the pool, she even didn’t correct the situation et our view, sur[rise and disappointed.
