All in all a great place to stay

On arrival met by pleasant reception staff. Room was adequate for stay. In need of a few minor repairs and freshen up but clean and cosy. Bathroom has shower over bath and again could do with updating but clean. Good supply of hand wash , body wash and shampoo. Nice fluffy white towels. Had tea/coffee making facility, but could do with double the amount of tea coffee etc, however asked reception for some more and gladly helped. King sized bed.... Linen white crisp and fresh. In need of a bedside table as only one the other side. Good size TV for room. Well made blackout curtains. Hotel very quiet at night so slept well. Spa facilities.... Pool large and clean. Steam room amazing. Sauna very small... Fit 3 people.... Disappointingly no jaquzzi. Evening meal was 3 course and excellently presented and good quantity. Staff very polite and helpful. Drinks are expensive but it is a hotel so expected. Breakfast was a little disappointing. Good selection but hot food was barely hot. Bacon was fatty and greasy. Sausages hard and eggs undercooked. Coffee machine gave you a like warm coffee. Grounds where hotel situated was amazing and well worth a walk round. All in all an anjoyable stay..... And a bargain for £89 from. Woucher. Will visit again 😁

I am working locally and this hotel suits my needs perfectly. For the last 3 months i have been staying there during the week. Food and rooms good. Possibly could be updated here and there but comfortable.

Somewhat Disappointing

Directions to find the main reception were somewhat ambiguous, so I ended up coming in the back entrance...Checked in easily, friendly staff. Found my room no problem. Walked past a damp, mouldy patch of carpet just close to my room which didn't inspire confidence. My room which was rather chilly (Mid November), so tried to turn on the heating. Nothing... Room was ok, but lacked a mini fridge (I had a sandwich & a drink I would have liked to refrigerate) No comfy armchair, which is common in other hotels. I had a room in the eaves, so the window was partly obscured by a sloping ceiling which made for a nice potential head injury close to the small desk. The window frame itself was so rotten, that I was able to sink my finger right into the hole - there was a gentle breeze coming in through the hole, so I left my soft drink next to it, which kept it cool. 😏 Every cloud.... Around 5pm, I saw staff taking portable heaters to other rooms, so I requested one if my heating/AC couldn't be fixed. I went downstairs to my business event. Luckily, I had the presence of mind to pop back to my room around 10pm to check if they'd left a heater, which they had. Except, they'd switched it on FULL, and the room was around 28 degrees 😯. The aforementioned rotten window was sealed shut, so I couldn't ventilate. All I could do was switch everything off and return to the Conference. Thankfully by 3am, the room had cooled to an acceptable level for sleeping. Comfy bed, warm shower. (slightly concerned that the sign in the bathroom said to keep door closed while showering to prevent activating the fire alarm 🤷‍♂️) Perfectly acceptable breakfast, with usual choice of hot food buffet, pastries, cereals, fruit etc. Disappointing lack of EV charge point - I don't expect free electricity - happy to pay for what I would have used, but didn't have the option. Overall, the hotel seems pretty tired - even the newer part.

Not enough staff on reception led to a twenty minute wait to be checked in. Shower was faulty, dirty towel had been left in the bath.
