Staff helpful, dinner in restaurant great, breakfast buffet ok, but food a little dry as left uncovered and items not replaced quickly when they ran out. Room well appointed but no ventilation so very stuffy. No opening window only a patio door to open But overall a great stay, great manager and staff

We were in a ground floor room so loved that we could open a door but the grass needs cutting and needs updating. The bathroom could do with updating too but overall we had a great stay. The food was lovely and the staff were very attentive too.

I was looking forward to this stay, I emailed prior asking about the facilities mentioning the jacuzzi, I was not told that it had been removed, I was told we.would have robes and slippers when we arrived we.were.tild only.spa day people had them, the woman on reception didn't tell us anything and we had to go back to the desk to ask about using a £1 for the locker, would have been better to advise us before hand we had a really small limited choice of meal and it was £10 supplement for the only decent option, I basically paid £15 for fish and chips. Then your receptionist said she had no record of my card even though I had authorised a prepayment amount and asked if she could charge it. Again, she clearly couldn't be bothered to go and check, I made her go and check and funnily enough she found it. I was treating my partner to this weekend, he is in the ambulance service and has had an extremely heavy time, it was disappointing to say the least .

Great location, friendly staff

Myself and my partner stayed one night there and were meant to be in the 16th century hall but unfortunately due to bad weather we were informed upon check in that the ceiling has collapsed so we were relocated to the modern hotel suites but the price difference would be made up by adding three course dinner and the rest of the money to “play with” on the bar tab etc. We used the spa in there day before check in both having a back massage which was nice though i found the table a bit uncomfy for my large head (haha) and the lady i had was a little bit blunt with me to begin with but nice enough, whereas my partner had a fab experience with a lovely lady for his massage so that was nice. The staff at the hotel were very genuine and accommodating and we felt that the service we had over the weekend was second to none and felt like royalty. The grounds of the hotel are just lovely and feels very remote despite not being far from stratford upon avon centre. A car is needed unless you enjoy long walks:) Thank you mercure.

The bar and restaurant staff were amazing but the young reception guy forgot to action requests for the drinks to be put in the room and two occasions The mattress in the room which was prestige , you could feel the springs through and was really uncomfortable to the point we checked out a day early.

My friend and I a break and we were extremely satisfied with our stay. Breakfast and dinner were both days were varied and delicious, the spa was efficiently run with a high standard of cleanliness. Rooms are very basic but adequate. It was obvious that there was a shortage of staff but they tried very hard to cover all aspects often covering 2 or 3 duties at once!

Lovely hotel, good food, good ccomodation and reaonable rates. But the receptionist did not know how to register an Accor member. The temperature outside was minus 3, the heating system in the room was not working! Why no one could give an answer!

Lovely Location, Less-than-luxury Dining

Grace Couples - 10/01/2022 Confirmed reviews ALL

I booked our luxury experience for my boyfriend’s birthday through SpaSeekers and we were extremely satisfied with the location, facilities and treatments available. Our room was nice and the surprise champagne I pre-ordered was all ready and waiting for us. Staff on the whole were very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately there were a few let-downs to our stay. Our dining experience, whilst adequate, seemed very basic for the luxury quality we had expected. We were very patient with waiting staff who were either very new to their role or very unfamiliar with what was on the new menu, or didn’t know what drinks were available. We imagined this was the result of the time of year as well as stretched staff capacity due to Covid however it did let down the quality of our experience. The quality of the food itself was also a little disappointing and we felt as though it did not fit the setting of the beautiful conservatory and lovely view of the herb garden. I’m afraid to say we’ve had much better meals at our local gastro pubs - the steak had clearly been frozen as the outside was well done and the centre raw, and the pie (described as the chef’s favourite”) was burnt on the outside and server with incredibly crunchy steamed veg. This poor quality was unfortunately reflected in our breakfast the following morning with obvious shortcuts taken. It was clear the juices had been watered down which is not something I’ve experienced at other Mercure hotels. It just seemed like an unnecessary cost-cut and affected the enjoyment of the drink for everyone as it tasted off. Overall we were having too much of a lovely time for these things to have truly bothered us but on reflection of our stay the dining experience would be the only thing I’d suggest for improvement for the benefit of all future customers.

Great location, good room. Good spa, slightly tatty pool area.Food was basic and hit and miss- given mayo instead of hummus!? Younger staff great, one of the older male managers very unfriendly and sent young worker to do what he should of done regarding our dog and eatting arrangements. His vibe was very tense and angry.

Location was beautiful and super relaxing. Couldn’t fault the staff. Food was tasty, had both an evening meal and breakfast. Room was nice (however I will note we were put in a standard room initially by mistake when we’d paid for a privilege, staff were great in changing the room but there was literally no difference the two bar a coffee machine, plus the tv in the standard room was bigger!) Really enjoyed the spa and facilities, great value for money.

Food and staff were lovely. The leisure club looked tired, broken seating and the changing rooms were dirty, it needs some tlc. The bedrooms were very basic and our double room had two single beds pushed together, I feel this did not meet the standards advertised.

There appeared to be staffing issues, but even so the place should not have looked this down and out. Lights not working and cobwebs, furniture that looked like it was from a charity shop. Our last stay on a 9 day holiday and it left us disappointed

Thank you for taking the time to review your experience at Walton Hall. Unfortunately, the global pandemic and Brexit had a big impact on our hotel and the entire industry; from the budgets that were supposed to be allocated for maintenance to the hospitality staff crisis. I am sorry that on this occasion your experience was disappointing. We are working hard to get back to normal. My sincerest apologies, Joanne.

Well what a lovely stay in an enormous superior double room in the old part of the hotel. Breathtaking views lovely grounds. A pool just big enough to cool down after the higher temperatures than usual for September. The staff were all extremely helpful- and especially Emily at breakfast who showed empathy to all those she helped and nothing was too much trouble. With the Covid restrictions although not now in place- it is important to realise hotels can’t just magic staff out of a hat and I must say they coped extremely well in what is still considered Covid times. Amazing couple of nights away for 2 essential workers. Thank you!

Thank you so much for taking the time to review your stay with us Carole. I am so pleased that you had a great stay. Emily will be over the moon with the special name mention. Thank you to you both, as essential workers, for all the hard work during Covid. Kind regards, Joanne.

Tired Hotel

Theresa P 07/09/2021 TripAdvisor review

Great location but found the hotel very tired, needing a lot of maintenance or revamp. The window frames need attention etc. There seemed to be a lack of staff, only one person on the bar. He was very pleasant but needed some help. The breakfast was very good, lots of choice.

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay Theresa. Unfortunately, the global pandemic and Brexit hit our hotel and the entire industry pretty bad. One of the struggles being the hospitality staff crisis and the funds that were meant to be available for maintenance of such a large hotel. We are trying to get back to normal and working our way through the maintenance jobs. I apologise for the inconvenience this has caused you. Kind regards, Joanne.
