There was a limited evening menu and then some things weren’t available so bought food in a couple of times. The takeaway breakfast was a bit hit and miss. Sometimes 2 sausages, sometimes 4, sometimes 2 cheese, sometimes 3. I never knew if I was going to be left hungry or not. I know we’re on lockdown but with the hotel being fairly remote and no other eateries open there should be reliable food available.
Beautiful countryside setting. Amazingly helpful staff. Gorgeous food. Clean accommodation

I stayed at Walton Mercure over Christmas with my husband and young children and I can honestly say it was one of the most pleasant hotel stays i have ever had. The staff went out of their way to make our stay as special as possible, paying attention to small details (chocolates on children’s pillows, Christmas card, special Christmas breakfast). The cottage where we stayed was perfectly sized for a small family and extremely clean. The grounds of the hotel grounds are breathtaking and we created many fond memories walking around the lake. The health centre is well looked after and lovely view of grounds from heated pool! It was pure escapism staying here and I would not hesitate recommending it to anyone
Comfortable stay

Disappointing

Specifically searched for a Spa hotel, called to confirm if Spa facilities were open, on arrival found the sauna and steam room were closed, the pool was open but was tired and dated, toilets were broken, window frames rotting, generally dirty and cold. Held out hope that the hotel would make up for it but unfortunately the room was disappointing with a tear in the net curtain, holes that looked like cigarette burns in the curtains and threadbare towels. The service in the hotel bar and restaurant was slow and disorganised. They seemed to be short staffed for the new ways of operating within Covid guidelines. We were looking forward to a romantic and relaxing first weekend away together and ended up with a bit of a Fawlty Towers experience. Certainly wouldn't go back to this hotel, it was let down in the main by the Spa, may have been more accepting of the hotel service if we weren't so disappointed by the Spa facilities or lack of them.
Great Value
