Staff were friendly and room was clean. But the breakfast was unacceptable, bacon & sausage bap as the only option is ridiculous, with only unripe bananas & lukewarm yoghurt for non-meat eaters, and squishy cheap package-wrap croissants. Even basic bread/toast would be nicer? Another issue was the lack of basic information - nothing in the room or booking emails indicating check-in/out times, info on the room, tv, services etc. Frankly mysterious & unhelpful by design. But basically a fine hotel, staff were nice, good location in centre of town.

Staff all very friendly from check-in to check-out. Great location as very central. Room was clean and spacious. The only downside was that due to Covid restrictions the hotel was not offering a full breakfast service but a takeaway option instead which we chose not to have as not what we wanted and worked out quite expensive for what was being offered. Convenient carpark next to hotel but very tight on ramp turns for a large car.

We stayed at the Grand for one night in our couples weekend away this weekend. We have stayed at the Grand on numerous occasions as it’s a well located hotel, with cheap rooms and an upmarket feel. Usually we use the spa facilities which have now not been in use since long before covid. We were also less than impressed by the hygiene standards in our room as we found multiple hairs in the bathroom! During the pandemic this is not acceptable and hygiene standards should be better not worse!! We usually have a fantastic stay as we have on multiple previous visits; however this stay has made us consider booking elsewhere. The other thing to note it’s the car park; which may not be the hotels responsibility but it was filthy and it was obvious someone had urinated in the stairwell.

We stayed for 2 nights to get away from the house. We only live an hour and half away and love Bristol so the location is great. Staff were all lovely but value for money food wise was a let down. I appreciate that’s probably the fall out from Covid. The room was clean but the towels seemed old and the room did need a bit of tlc and more of a deep clean

We were happy with most things in the hotel, even though the laundry service had changed. However breakfast was disappointing, being a bacon/sausage bap, yoghurt and packaged croissant. Whilst we did not expect the full array of choices previously on offer at The Grand, I think something similar would have been possible (and we did not know that breakfast had been downgraded before arriving). A full breakfast sets you up for the day, particularly for a city trip, where you don't necessarily want to waste time finding a spot for lunch. Also it's more efficient for the hotel (rather that for the individual) to buy breakfast and provide it to customers at a reasonable price.

Stayed the one night, booked direct as a diamond member. Was informed that the fridge would be stocked with soft drinks it wasn't. Empty bottles from previous persons who used room were left outside the entire time of our stay. The biggest complaint / issue was there was no warning that the breakfast would be grab and go style, for the additional price that I paid it was shocking value for money, given the COVID situation I appreciated that it could be a limited selection but it was worse than a travel lodge breakfast in a box!

The check in staff were lovely The hotel has a bit of a youth hostel feel to it. There were drinks left on the front step and rubbish in the hallway when we checked in, but to be fair we did check in early and so the housekeeping staff were still doing the rooms. I found the decor a bit dark.

Good room ,good location ,good staff , but you must remove the breakfast as an available option . What you offer ,as so called breakfast , was discus ting . We know things are difficult with the present situation but unless you can offer some thing better than a cold bacon or sausage bun with instant coffee or tea in a cardboard cup don’t bother , just do room only.

Check in was easy, and rooms were good. Nicely furnished and clean fresh looking bathrooms. Towels were thin and rough. The food offering for evening meals was limited and the breakfast was shocking- the grab and go offering is not what i expect from a Mercure. The hot sausage in a bun was cold and the sausages anaemic. The croissant was in a plastic wrapper so was soft and not fresh and crisp. The coffee machine was not in use either so it was filter coffee only.

Lovely hotel, location & staff. Paid for 2 x suites for 1 night, including breakfast. 1 x suite very large, and very nice, and and the 2nd suite next door, was ok ( smaller, but same price?). Covid breakfast wasn't the best, not sure they can't offer something better - cheap bap with 2 bit of bacon and some sides isn't the best. Carpark is right next door, but very tight as a older building - just need to drive slowly & very carefully. Location was ideal for a night out & daytime shopping.

Good location, friendly staff. Disappointed we weren't informed prior that the pool is permanently closed. Breakfast disappointing. Room dark, small and dated - the window did not close properly. Below usual standard of Mercure Hotels recently stayed in.

I have stayed before and really enjoyed it, hence re booking this past weekend. The staff are absolutely excellent and really help to make the experience enjoyable. There are a few hiccups relating to Covid namely the breakfast but these will be overcome as time goes on. I would have rated more than 8 apart from that.

We had a Privilege room but was far from it. The fridge had to be replaced, no where to store clothes and the “industrial chic” decor just bizarre. We were there under COVID restrictions but in does not excuse the dreadful food in the Keepers and the pathetic breakfast which we skipped the second day.

I was disappointed at having to pay for the car park. When I rang and asked whether or not there was adequate parking I was not informed that there would be a charge. I stayed for 3 nights and therefore it was £45. I also asked for a room with a view. The view was of a building clad in scaffolding. I also had to ask for the towels to be replaced on day 2, which they were but the old ones were not removed. I will never stay in this hotel again.
