A stay with Basil Faulty

Nothing went well staying at this Mecure, it was if Basil was running the show. No amenities (Platinum membership) in either room we were offered. Multiple failures with keys, parking and other items. Both of the rooms were tired and needed a deep clean with several fixtures requiring maintenance. The stay was not memorable in a pleasurable way

Room telephone not working so could not phone reception . No one answering the reception telephone from landline call from room because room telephone not working. Had to get up from bed (10 p.m.) to dress and go down to reception. Noise both in the street outside the room until gone 3 pm Saturday night and Noise of party in the corridor outside our room and next door until gone 3 pm Saturday night. Could not ring reception to complain.

Lovely friendly knowledgeable staff, great location, easy carparking, lovely breakfast, nice complimentary bottle of house wine, good bathroom with complementary soaps, great room TV. Loud banging music until 1am, guests slamming doors and shouting, hotel room floor and side bed tables stained, tea mugs needed a secondary wash, no view from the window only pigeon noise and dirt

Unfortunately we had cause to complain owing to being given a smaller room than paid for which was not clean in some places and had unknown substances on the wall beside the bed. We were also informed, on arrival, that a party was going on until 1am and, whilst moved to a room further away, we would have preferred to know when booking so we could stay elsewhere. On the morning of departure there was no manager around to discuss it and our complaints had to be emailed which were met with ‘out of office’.
