My booking was for the Mercure Southgate Hotel, but I mistakenly went to the Rougemont. I just want to say thank you so much to the lovely lady on reception who was so helpful in giving me directions on a map. She is one of the nicest hotel receptionists I have ever met. I didn’t catch her name, but it was on the 8/9/24 at approximately 1.30pm. Thank you again!

A great central location and right next to train station. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean. The bar staff are also welcoming and helpful. Unfortunately there were a couple of small niggles. The toilet blocked very easily which was a pain. Also when I got back from a wedding at 1am, my key didn’t work. Reception tried to recalibrate it but it still didn’t work, requiring three separate trips up to my room to try it out. Eventually they came up and used a master key. Not the end of the world but I was already quite tired!

Came away for out anniversary arrived blind in bathroom had been cut in half holes in curtains and a couple of inch gap in the front door which had been cut out called reception given a different room go to that one it's smells of bo cigarettes dogs and again another front door that had bottom cut out, was then told they had no rom left we were absolutely appalled no where on my booking confirmation did it say this was a fog hotel either from booking.com apparently every room is used but rooms thoroughly cleaned I am allergic to dogs and the receptionist was very rude interrogating me in this Was told no rooms available to move to ask to speak to a manager then a food and beverage manger came out and then we were given a room on 4th floor went up there it was grotty again smelt like dogs went in the bathroom and was so sick the smell was horrendous sat onbthe sofa and had a flea land on me that was the last straw checked out and had to pay double to pay to stay in hotel indigo a hotel that they told me at mecure they couldn't move me to as it was fully booked, I was given a refund but the manager has so far ignored emails I don't know how this hotel has a 4 star rating it is disgusting run down smelly and dirty avoid at all costs

My brother was staying here whilst visiting me. As soon as we got to reception we were greeted with the most wonderful and amazing lady called Kara. I found out she has only worked there 5 weeks and was just awarded employee of the month. She knows a lot of history about the hotel and gave us a science and history lesson! What a wonderful women and I hope she lives her best life! My brother even got a free room upgrade! Phenomenal service from Kara throughout. I hope she sees this!
