Hotel staff great, really friendly and very helpful. Rooms dilapidated. Smelled of smoke. Small and beds not most comfy. Shower extremely difficult to get to be warm. Had to run the cold bath tap at the same time to be able to drop the amount of cold water going to shower head. Carpet very tired

for a IBIS styles the room was okay but i expected more as in an IBIS budget i get more!!! No Bar open recent IBIS Budgets have the bar open!!!!!! no kettle in the room, bedside light not working and bathroom ventilation not working. no lift in the hotel.

Check in fine and receptionist lovely. Room (203) okay until I found that TV did not work - aerial lead plug did not fit wall socket, so no signal. Receptionist very helpful and relocated me to another room (201). Room fine. Bathroom disappointing. No plugs in either bath or sink, and the taps dripped constantly. Very tired by this time and not inclined to trouble the receptionist again. So, in summary, lovely staff - neglected amenities. I'm due to stay again next week - so will make a point of asking not be put in 203 or 201 unless I'm advised that the necessary remedial work has been undertaken (and keep my fingers crossed that any other room is up to standard).

A quiet and comfortable room is what anyone traveling for work would expect and that's exactly what you will get here. The staff are courteous and very helpful. The room was small but cosy. The only issue I had was with the toilet, which had an ineffective flush.

Creakiest floor in the world

Room was shoddy, staff insist I send them a copy of my work contract even though it’s not required, creakiest floor in the world in my room, shower head was half blocked with limescale, chunk missing out the bath, the peephole cover on the door was broken so I had a beam of light shining in all night, I could go on, overall not a great experience.

I have been staying at Ibis Styles Reading regularly since January 2021 as I work at the Royal Berkshire Hospital. After a hard days work, I come to the hotel for a bit of rest. Although, the rooms are great and the beds are comfortable, I am very disappointed at the horrible smell of cannabis in the whole hotel which makes it very suffocating. In addition, there is a lot of loud noise from door knocking and banging late into the night. My understanding is that the hotel is currently housing Reading council tenants. If this is more profitable, then they should take an executive decision to close the gates for members of the public. It is not acceptable to be exposed to cannabis when the guest is paying for accommodation.

Worst Hotel Stay Ever (Got refund)

Shocking. Arrived at the hotel at 19:00 but not before a drug addict barged past on his bike and went through the hotel doors before us. Got in the hotel, it stunk. Got given my room key, the guest in the room next to me was either smoking weed or had just finished, not to mention his music that I could hear through the walls. Room was old and battered with stains all over the place and sounded like a jet was taking off outside the window where the generator was. Had to go for a run to clear my head. The hotel was in a state, clearly being used to house immigrants and maybe people going through rehab. Asked for a refund and left the hotel as quickly as possible.. This was easily my worst experience ever. Except the bloke on reception who was nice.

No hot water

When booking the staff were ever so friendly and helpful, room was clean and tidy. I had been on the road for 13hrs so I was glad to find somewhere to stay. The room had no hot water for a shower and i was unable to change rooms. Not a great end to a long day but at least I had a bed.

This hotel is in a complete mess, the current residents smoke cannabis inside the hotel, the room stank of cigarette smoke too, they run up and down the stairs all night and the hotel is noisy. The staff however are really friendly and provide a really good service, I found them to be helpful and kind.

Everything was fine, given the coronavirus restrictions for breakfast. The staff were extremely helpful. On site parking was pot luck (I was lucky each day!) and the spaces extremely small.

Reception extremely friendly and helpful. Room was a nice size but unable to use air con due Covid and due to it being hot it was not the most comfortable at night. A fan was provided but it had no swing function and we were a family using two beds. Facilities mostly OK although TV remote did not work very well. Bed comfortable and pillows fluffy. We got a breakfast bag which was nice. Location was excellent.

All staff I met were friendly, helpful and professional (two young men on reception and the lady supervising breakfast). I had previously stayed at this hotel some time ago in a Solo room. I have mobility issues and that room had been quite difficult so this time went for the Queen Room which was perfect for my needs. Room was warm, clean and cosy, and also quirky (in a good way!) due to the Styles branding. Breakfast was superb with every possible item of a continental breakfast available, from pastries to cheeses, quality meat, multiple types of bread, fresh fruit, yogurt, yogurt drinks, individual mini packets of cereals/ muesli, tea and fruit infusion sachets, coffee etc. Absolutely excellent and the fact that it is included in the room price is incredible. Really could not fault any aspect of my stay

This is an appreciation email for Karl from Reading branch, I came into check in and was expecting normal casual service but this time it was not the same, Karl was just fantastic, he knew what I was looking for, he appreciated me for the business and he was extremely polite & attentive.
