Hotel staff was the best I've ever seen. Incredibly helpful and polite. The main lobby is really something else. It's very glamorous and has a luxury feel. Breakfast was amazing, lots of fruits, bread, cakes. Well worth the price - I recommend you to include it in your say, you just can't find anything remotely close to that price nearby. Location is amazing, the Av. Paulista is just across the street. There's a taxi stand outside the hotel. Uber and other apps work fine as well. The view is pretty good. Rooms are quite spacious. Nice amenities. Internet connection is the best I've ever had in a hotel. The only thing I'd change is the room's electronics. They are a bit outdated. I didn't even watch the TV, so it didn't affect me that much. But I can image that a better TV, for example, could be a good improvement, allowing you to cast your phone screen or apps to it (such as netflix, hbo, disney and others). I'll definitely stay there again any time I need a place in São Paulo. Great job! Cheers!

It's an old outdated building and facility but still the location and the service makes up for all of it...definitely the best place to stay in Sao Paulo city Conveniently located near a major Shopping Center and public transport if required. Very safe as well.

Highly Overrated

We stayed at the Maksoud for a conference. The lobby is very pretty. The staff looks the part. The rooms are poorly maintained and outdated. Drab and stale. The shower is terrible. The water pressure is over the top. Toilet splashes onto the seat. The shower head sprays like a hundred lasers in all directions. Will hit you right in the face when you turn it on from the outside of the shower. When we finished the day at the conference my husband was speaking at, we turned out the lights. At 12:45 in the night someone used a room key and walked in the room. That was an uproar. The desk offered that it must be house keeping. Needless to say, returning to sleep was a struggle, especially since they seemed to be cleaning in the room next to us. We scheduled and paid for a meeting room. and the arrangements were mismanaged beyond measure. They use a different company for internet, different company for the projector and none of them talk to one another. I responded and repeatedly confirmed to every email and went to one of their offices where they told me everything was arranged and would be ready. The room was not ready. When I got a meeting room key from the front desk, the room was not cleaned from the last use. I cleaned it. We had no internet, no projector, no food and my meeting guests were in the lobby while I ran around and tried to get it all ready without them noticing there was an issue. It was finally to the point that I could put people in the room when the event coordinator arrived. She proceeded to tell me that it was my fault because I didn't respond. I showed her where I responded to every message. She said, "well I didn't get it." She went on and on with me until I explained I needed things resolved now instead of her excuses. So we got it all resolved and the food service was excellent. The only redeeming value. You would think after all of this, they would have a manager come talk me and offer some compensation. I had to shake them down for a tiny discount when I checked out. There are some very nice staff there, the restaurant is good and the bar is excellent. It is just horribly mismanaged. We had intended on having another meeting there, but we took our chances and left. We had a very hard time finding somewhere to stay and found a hostel for $20.00 a night that was far superior of an experience. We extended our stay at the hostel.

Regarding your comments about the shower, we have a 24-hour maintenance staff present at the hotel for possible repairs. We checked the information and everything is already working normally - anyway, we apologize for any inconvenience. Regarding your comment about any guest entering your room at night, it is really a very serious matter and does not match our standards. In addition, all our rooms have soundproofing that does not allow outside sounds to enter. About your meeting room reservation, we apologize again for any inconvenience. We reinforced that our event coordinator showed the options of spaces before the event, including our presidential suite as an option, as we were busy on the requested day. Also, as a way of solving, the person responsible for the internet went directly to the room to understand the requests as best as possible. As a way to minimize any inconvenience, we gave you complimentary items at the end of your stay, such as the internet itself, coffee items and room hours. We are sorry you were not satisfied. We work hard to ensure that our guests always have a good time with us and this feedback is very important to this process. We remain at your disposal.

Expensive old property—but not good value for the money

Grand hotel from the 70s—I see that there has been some minor renovations but the bathroom, lobby carpet, and furniture in the room is very dated and need repairs. Hence, not a good value for the money spent. Also they charge too much for small things and don’t allow late checkout even by one extra hour. Food at this hotel is of the highest quality—highly recommended.

A very good hotel in a excellent location. Near Jardins area and just a few steps from Av Paulista where one may find sunway staion, malls, restaurants and office buildings . The lobby bar (Frank) has many good drinks and the day I was there (a Saturday) a jazz trio was performing with great success.

Average hotel needs update

Maksoud has a nice lobby and good breakfest, but clearly needs an update. The service is very slow during the check-in and check-out, it seems there is a lack of management and that the system it´s working properly. The hotel is very well located.

I booked 2 rooms on behalf 2 senior management of my company, first for 1 night and afterward I added 1 extra room so they could have earlier check in.The hotel made this worst from the very beginning, didn't know that the booking was made under a member Le Club AccorHotels Silver. They were charged for earlier check in and the hotel told me that the guests should tell them their status regarding their membership.

Maksoud is a beautiful hotel, in the heart of SP, close to Paulista avenue and the main tourist points in the city; it's well known by its excellence on service and I had the highest level of kindness from the staff during my stay. But... the rooms need some renovation ASAP... my bed was one of the worst experience within Accor chain in the last months. Just one night, no problem at all, but this really need some improvement from Accor team.

Excellent location, very close to Avenida Paulista, subway, restaurants and bars. Great service. Comfortable and clean rooms. Breakfast varied and well served. I highly recommend it, both for those who go to work and who travels for leisure.

Upon arrival I was being charged 50 reais extra because I had only booked for 1 person the receptionist said. Which was not true, I had the booking with me. This is the second time this happens to me in São Paulo. It is as if this is standard practice in Brazil. A quick buck on the side!! Rooms; nothing special for being a 5 star hotel. Bathroom; OUTDATED going way back to the 70's. The exhaust vente in the bathroom did NOT work. Towels, of course do not get dry this way! On the last day of our stay I found out that the door of the room was unable to close. Anyone could have walked in after we went out, no need for a key!! Ridiculous!! Restaurant area; There is an URGENT need to invest in NEW seating material. Overall I would not recommend this hotel. I for sure am NOT going back there. For my next trip to São Paulo going to look for an other hotel.

Maksoud is a gorgeous and comfortable hotel, with great service, many leisure options and delicious food (try the "pao de queijo" at breakfast!). It is very close to the Paulista Avenue and the Augusta Street, which are all you need to have some fun night or day. Would definitely come back.

service: average lounge: forget out it. to get a beer you need to be seated. if there is not seat you may get a beer at the hair cut store next door. that was the atendent directions. room: old and smelly, and they gave me na update. I imagine what the my original room would have been. ask for no room service and got one anyway. my partner was very embarraced as we had many of our toys around the room. fitness room: guess what, you have to pay a fee if you want to use it. i have been in thousands of hotel in my life and this is the first time a got a charge to use the fitness room. when you are inside, the place is really dirty, old, swuiming pool wall very crusty. parking: R$45/day, when the parking next door charges you only R$15. overall cleaness: greasy everything. elevator, glass doors, realling. a very disapointing experience for a iconic hotel. Henry Maksound should be rolling inside his cascade over what this place has become.

What you were charged for was the use of the sauna, which is an additional service. Our excuses if this information was not clearly transmitted to you. The price of our parking lot is within the average range of those charged by others in the region; notwithstanding, your remark will be taken into account for future analysis. We are going to intensify the cleaning of rooms, windows, elevators, Fitness Center and swimming pool. We hope you may accept our most sincere apologies and our commitment to improve the services, in order to best serve you. Finally, we kindly ask you to overlook this unsatisfying experience and stay with us again in the future, to know our real services standard. Thank you for your understanding. If you ever travel to Germany you will understand what I mean. Old furnisher but comfortable. Clean and a great location if you are working and need to be close to Paulista avenue. Restaurant is a 3 if so, and this is what impacted the most my review. It is not about the ingredients but the finesse of the food itself and the restaurant team. Need to be (much) better trained. Good people though.

I spent 5 nights in the hotel (March 2016) and it was very pleasurable. Rooms with good size and clean (little smell of "old"). Service and staff wonderful and kind. Breakfast buffet with lot of very good Brazilian variety of food (Natural juices, breads, cheese, fruits, eggs, potatoes, cakes, ...) For sure worth the price spent.
