I can only speak well of the staff, attentive, helpful, polite, incredibly helpful. And the location was excellent. Unfortunately we stayed during “building upgrades”. We we offered a 10% discount due to this but honestly, if they had paid ME 10% I wouldnt do it again. The “mild inconvenience” was the sound of drilling from 8am-5pm, and not intermittent, but constant. Travelling with small children, this was impossible- there was no way to put them down for a nap or stay in the room for any extended period of time during the day- we had to almost yell to speak over one another. Its also not particularly kid friendly in terms of pool or amenities, although the foreshore across the road was great. My honest view- for the price (even with a not so generous discount) was not at all worth the inconvenience and incredible irritation caused by the noise (I recorded a video for records!) my recommendation- wait until the renovations are finished, and then come and stay!

Thought we'd use one of our free nights and book for 2 nights. Booking via the app was not possible, rang venue and was referred to the phone reservation service. Baffled that one can't book via the venue! Two emails prompting on line check in did not allow access to all fields!! On arrival check in went smoothly however limited parking close to the venue, and then informed parking was offsite a block away in a shopping centre carpark. Dined in the first night, disappointed with one of the meals, very small serve of Rockling and dry. Got out of the restaurant asap as the noise from the huge group next to us and the competing music was overwhelming, making conversation impossible. Ordered Room service dessert and coffee to escape the noise, this was added to a bill and received the food discount but did have to pay the room service charge. Breakfast first morning- opted for 1 x Cold buffet and 1 x hot buffet with eggs made to order. Cold buffet was adequate but nothing to rave about. Issue with the Hot buffet was all items were luke warm to cold. After a delay ,the eggs made to order were followed up by a staff member and promised shortly, after another few minutes wait they arrived and despite being made to order in a kitchen a 30 second walk away they were also cold. Clearing of table of plates etc was slow despite staff walking past the table looking at them stacked up and opting to clear the table next to us. Room - with AC on was freezing and stuffy when off. Door to balcony can't be left open as no screen. Decor was dated. Shower was good although the glass screen was not long enough and cater for a tall person with a large wet zone requirement resulting in a wet and slippery bathroom floor. Balcony was a waste of space and would be better used to increase room space. Bed was King Size but a ridge running down the centre of bed was uncomfortable. Room service is offered but no table to sit at and only one chair. Bedside table was dirty with signs of a liquid spill. Asked House cleaning to address this when in the room and it was not done. Dinner second night - considered dining in again but once the lift doors opened and the wave of noise hit us from the bar this was not an option. Instead we chose a venue across the road with water views, prompt service and huge serves. Got back and decided to order same desert as the night before and a coffee to have in our room and watch a movie. This time the one dessert was half the size of the night before! Coffee was good. But a $5 room service charge when you are NOT getting the Accor discount makes it $37 for dessert and coffee, and eating on the bed the only option! The impression is the venue is trying to be a restaurant, a large group eatery and a bar all at once and the locations for each of these are too close together, it just doesn't work. Price - As mentioned only paid for 1 x night as an Accor member, however, we are regulars at an inner Melbourne suburb Accor venue with a "higher ranking name " than the Novotel and the differences between the two venues are remarkable. Huge rooms, separate lounge, kitchen area, laundry within the bathroom and a balcony that is spacious enough to sit on and enjoy the view. The cost of this venue is within $10 of Geelong Novotel and far better value. Positives - Easy access to venues in the local area, venue is well placed to shopping centre, cinemas and of course the Geelong beachfront, Eastern beach etc with lots of choice for swimming, walking the promenade, close to Botanic Gardens, eating out. Renovations are taking place at the moment and it is suggested it will be the biggest hotel in Geelong, but unless these issues are addressed it will not be the best!

Stayed 2 nights. Assumed that room would be serviced during our stay. When we followed this up after first night, found out that you are required to "opt in" to get the room serviced. Given that this is the Novotel, and not some cheap dodgy hotel, really disappointed about this. I acknowledge that the leaflet we were given when we checked in did mention about the "opt in" but who reads all the fine print. I don't. There is an assumption that, given the hotel markets itself as a quality hotel, items like automatic room servicing just happen. Also, this is not a "green initiative" it is a "cost cutting" initiative. If the hotel was concerned about "green initiatives" then there would be recycle bins in all the rooms.
