We stayed here 5 nights after our disembarkation of the @Scenic Eclipse II and our experience was wonderful! We began our checkin with Matthieu at the reception desk who got us into our room several hours before normal checkin time. Nothing was ever a problem with Matthieu! When I saw him a few hours later & asked him if I could check into a better room (for an additional cost) he made it happen smoothly. Our new room had access to Club Millesime and that’s where our experience went up a whole other level when we met Elmo who is the Senior Butler!! He truly took care of us. Asking whether we wanted a wine flight to include ALL the wines they poured to recommending local places to visit such as Watson’s Beach. Elmo is an incredible ambassador of the Sofitel brand and because of him I will continue to explore more of their hotels as we continue embarking on our world explorations.

An excellent hotel in a great location at Darling harbour, within walking distance of restaurants and cafes, and public transport. The buffet breakfast was excellent, with barista made coffee included. The rooms are beautiful and clean, and the Balmain bath products are lovely. The only downside would be the time it takes to check in and out. Lines every time I went to reception, and one female staff member who couldn’t be bothered.

- Comfortable rooms, albeit quite basic. - Comfy beds, linen, robes and towels. Slippers could be of higher quality. - Liked the privacy glass between the toilet and shower. - Rooftop pool was awesome, plus good poolside drinks. - Juices at breakfast were delicious, but everything else was just ok. - Service was fine.

Poor communications and service from Sofitel. I was surprised to hear construction activity from 7am (you could set your alarm by the whistle every day) during my stay even when staying on level 6. Unlike other hotels, I was not advised during check-in, or via any form of in-room notice, about the on-going construction activity happening outside the hotel on the Darling Harbour side. When I asked about moving rooms to one less noisy I was told it wasn't possible due to heavy bookings unless I paid extra for a room upgrade for my 9 day stay.

I just wanted to reach out directly to thank you for your feedback and we do apologise that the construction site had a negative impact on your stay. In regards to the construction occurring at Harbourside, we do not reflect this in any communications as this is happening outside the hotel. Similar to any CBD hotels there could be noise, roadworks or construction at any given time. We do alert guests when we are conducting any internal works where it is expected to hinder the guest experience, this is of course our obligation. Unfortunately, Harbourside is beyond our control and should start from 8am on Saturdays but on some days, this works in not as noisy or non-existent, hence we cannot confirm if works will affect their stay. Most of all, we are sorry we were unable to assist with a room change due our capacity during your stay. I have noted your profile to assist with an upgrade to a opposite side of the building. Should your travels bring you back to Sydney, please do reach out to me directly so I can look after your reservation and stay requirements. Thank you again for your time.
