What to say. Gold card member, nothing prepared, Receptionists were confused of our arrival, despite the fact we arrived at 8pm, ceilings at room were old, no wifi at room, no welcome drink. Incorrect invoice received, only one lift was in use.... On the other hand, breakfast was good.

We had booked a family room (2 adults and 2 children) for five nights, but there were no pillows for the children for the first two nights. When we asked the kids about pillows, the answer was that extra pillows were not available. The room was not cleaned one day until we asked about it and practically all they did were clean towels. One of the two elevators was out of order for all five days. The hotel is aging and in need of refurbishment, if compared to other Ibis Hotel, where I stayed. On the positive side, there was a kind of view of the river and the kids loved watching the freight trains. Breakfast was also nice. Nothing great, but there was everything I hoped for for breakfast.

We came to Riga for a concert. First visited a shoping mall, took some wine and chees with as and then started our drive to hotel. Idea was to realx. I would even put in bold - to RELAX. Get pretty for the evening out and during that have some fun and wine with the girls. But the reality was 120% different. There was a queue with about 8 people and it took 1 hour 30 minutes to serve 6 of them. An hour and 30 minutes! So finally when there were 2 peole in front of me and I got close to table, was the first time when I actually heard what was wrong. There were some double bookings. As I understood with my very poor russian - two floors were closed and thats why booking.com had booked more than there were rooms available. Ok. I booked mine in January, so I assumed mine should be fine. Well I got the room at the end. But. I basically had to fight for it. And the only reason, as I understood, why I even got a room at all, was that, that my booking was pre-payed. And I refused to leave. Because I got three “no, sorry no”-s before I finally got a room. And to fight for my place in the queue because the receptionist decided to start dealing with peole behind my before me. So overall - WHAT WAS THAT! And it seemed that the reception girls supervisor had already left. How could that be? First - how is that possible, that the hotel is not capable to predict that there may be that kind of problem - overbooking - when 2 floors are closed. And then to do something about that a bit earlier than wen the quests have already arrived. Because the do not come from the next building. The book a hotel because they have no place to go. And the reception girls had no plan B. They had no idea what to do. Only thing was to say - sorry, we do not have rooms. Secondly - hotel is over booked and there is no supervisor at work?! At the end we had 10-15 minutes to just change clothes and go - not to miss the concert. I dont blame the reception girls, it was clare, that they just had zero training for a situation like that. They were clearly missing guidance that day. They tried to do their best, but were just missing guidance in what that Best should be for quests in that kind of situation. I would assume that it would be to try to look for an another hotel in Riga, where the person should go then. Although before we left for the concert, about 18:30, we told to receptionist, that we were missing all the bedding and towels for the third person. They promised to deal with it. When we arrived back at midnight, we still didnt have them. But ok, girl didnt write it down, but what should be essential in a stressful situation.

A very pleasant stay in a quiet part of Riga around 20 minutes walk from old town. Rooms very comfortable , quiet good for sleeping and a very reasonable breakfast.
