Really nice hotel in the middle of the city. Friendly front desk personnel and motorbike friendly as we were allowed to park in front of the hotel, but near the hotel wall in order not to be charged as a normal car spot, and at the same time keeping the car spots free for cars. Would have been nice to have a stocked minibar. The towels and slippers were just for one person although I booked the room from the beginning for two persons. The wooden cold floor did not make the feeling in the room that nice.

Dear Mr. E., Thank you for staying with us. We work hard to make our guests happy and appreciate your feedback! Sincerely, Selda Ramadanovic Deputy General Manager

Excellent hotel in Skopje city centre!

I have stayed at ibis hotels (budget and regular) all over the world, each offering consistency in quality and amenities, and ibis Skopje city centre did not disappoint! Location of the hotel couldn't be more perfect, situated nearby to Macedonian square (the main square). You can walk to the main square in about 5 minutes and all of the sightseeing attractions are located within a 10-15 minute walk of the hotel. The Skopje fortress is 1.5 km from the hotel, and can be accessed on foot in about 20-30 minutes depending on your speed and fitness level. It's free to enter the fortress and it offers nice views of the city centre. There are many cafes, restaurants and shops around Macedonian square, so there is no lack of options. The hotel is a 5-10 minute walk from a large shopping mall called City Gallery. There are dozens of stores in this multilevel shopping mall. There is a sizeable supermarket called Market Vero on the basement floor of the supermarket. The supermarket has a large selection to choose from including fresh produce, dairy, dried goods, snacks, wine and liquor, confectionary, and it has a bakery and deli within. English is spoken widely since Skopje sees so many international tourists. Like most ibis I've stayed in, the rooms are spacious (exception being the budget chain), smartly designed, spotless and comfortable! The room was furnished with a large wall mounted desk, a large cabinet with shelving, and luggage storage with hangers tucked away in the corner of the room. There was an electric kettle with tea and coffee making facilities, which was most appreciated. Nescafé instant coffee, sugar packets and a few tea bags were provided, along with a glass carafe of water and two glasses. There was a flatscreen tv in the room with approximately 40 channels including international channels (in English) like CNN, National Geographic, Animal Planet etc. so you have something interesting to watch while you're putting back that bottle of Macedonian wine you purchased! The bed was so large and comfortable! The mattress was the perfect firmness and the bedding, pillows were crisp and clean! I personally love the weight of the duvet in most ibis chains and this duvet was exceptional! Felt like home. Funny how after months of traveling, the small comforts of home are exciting and appreciated! The bathroom was large and spotless. I really thought the bathroom was well designed with large walk-in and fully enclosed shower (glass doors) and a large modern toilet. The water pressure and temperature in both the shower head and the sink were excellent. Two large bath towels were provided and they were fluffy and pretty well brand new! A bath/floor mat was also provided. The only thing missing were hand towels. There was a large dispenser of hand soap, and two large dispensers of shampoo and body/face gel. Considering most hotels combine the two, I appreciated that the shampoo was actually shampoo, not an all in one! My hair deserves the very best, after all! Air conditioning worked very very well, and was controlled by wall panel. Wifi was open (not secure or password protected), and accessed easily. Wifi signal was very strong both in the room and throughout the hotel. The breakfast buffet starts very early in the morning, at 6:30 am and goes until 10:00 am I believe. Like most ibis, the breakfast buffet was consistent and offered most items you could desire for breakfast. On offer were: scrambled eggs, scrambled eggs with green peppers, hot sausages, hard boiled eggs, a fairly good selection of cold cut meats and cheeses, sliced cucumbers, sliced tomatoes, a variety of salad mixings such as lettuce, shredded carrots, olives, shredded onions, some pickled vegetables etc., sliced fruits such as oranges, watermelon, grapes, nectarines (but no whole fruits for takeaway, which is something that I felt was lacking!), muesli and other cold cereals, a large offering of breads, pastries, croissants, cakes, cookies and other sweets, accompaniments such as butter and jams, tea bags and an automatic coffee machine which dispenses coffee according to your specifications (espresso, long espresso, cappuccino etc.). The breakfast buffet was busy, but there was open seating and the staff were attentive in clearing breakfast trays and opening up new seating. The staff also kept up with the demand of replenishing spent breakfast items, so there was always fresh stock of food. The breakfast buffet was of good quality, but whole fruits were notably absent. No fridge in the room, but a mini fridge is quite rare to find in ibis hotels, so this wasn't an expected amenity from past experience. It would have been a nice perk! The hotel check-in process was smooth and efficient. They have a large lobby waiting area and a water dispenser with paper cups for guests. Staff at the reception were professional and courteous, there to answer any questions you have! The reception is staffed 24 hours. The hotel has at least 6 floors, serviced by 2 elevators and a stairwell. The elevators are a bit slow to accommodate all of the guests, but functional. The hotel has a bar and a restaurant as well I believe. I didn't use either, so I cannot comment. There are so many restaurants and eating options around the hotel, that you won't find yourself confined to the hotel. Overall, an exceptional stay at ibis Skopje city centre, as per my usual stay at the ibis. I always look forward to staying in ibis hotels as they offer consistency in service and amenities worldwide. Exception being the budget chain, of course, but there is a time and place for the budget chain and I adjust my expectations accordingly. Thanks for providing the small comforts of home, even if just for one night! Certainly makes traveling and living out of a backpack for months more pleasant!
