On arrival the first impressions were the general cleanliness of the front entrace, very poor, obvioulsyt not cleaned in a long time, cobwebs dirt and general garden debris around the recemption door from the min entrance. Rooms were generlly very tied and it looks like very little investment has been made over a long time.

Didn’t see the need to check in. Had filled in all details with AAT. Whose responsibility: bus driver? AAT ? It was a lengthy procedure after a long day. Staff friendly and positive.

Everything about my stay was lovely except for my room. It was outdated, the shower was terrible, room smelled of mildew, and it had a general feeling of lack of care of pride. I wasn't surprised as we met people in Darwin who had recently stayed and they warned me to lower my expectations. They were right.. other than that the restaurant, pool and especially the staff were absolutely lovely.

A weekend away with the grandkids they were very impressed with the pool and the "fancy" restaurant and the fact that they could sleep inside a crocodile

Booked this hotel as previously stayed here and with the Mercure brand we expected a quality stay . The real experience was totally opposite. Bird waste and feathers splatttered throughout the grounds and all outside furniture no effort has been made to clean even after mentioning it to the manager so we couldn’t use those facilities.Rooms were full of mould the ceilings ; curtains and bathroom .The bath was stained the floor grout and corners were full of mould . The restaurant lacked atmosphere but the food and service was good .

The worst Accor branded hotel I have ever experienced (including Ibis Budget).

There are not that many choices of accommodation in Kakadu, thus the reason why we chose to stay with the Mercure Hotel brand; knowing that we would be getting good value for money and a relatively more superior place to stay at for $250 a night. Upon arrival to the hotel, we had to wait for our room to become ready, not because we had arrived early, as we had arrived at 2pm. Reception staff had to go and check to see how long this would be, and we waited at reception for at least 20 minutes for him to return to advise the room was now ready. The whole check in took 40 minutes. We then returned to our car and reloaded our luggage as we had to drive to the rear carpark as our room was situated at the back end of the resort. By this stage as we entered the communal area through the side gate which seemed like it was on its last legs and quite rusted and dirty, not to mention it needed a bit of oiling on its hinges. We noticed that there were leaves and dirt everywhere in the communal area. We walked into our room and the first thing we noticed was that the white floor tiles were quite black and there were dead insects and dirt everywhere. The carpeting looked unvacuumed and the bathroom faucets had black rings around them and it all looked grimy. We approached reception about this and they advised that they would have housekeeping come in the morning to clean this up. We had also chosen this hotel because of the communal laundry that we could use, and once we located it and went in to check what was available, we looked at the machines and the machine doors were filthy and had muck all over the inner sides; we wouldn’t be washing our clothes here in these conditions. The next morning we were up rather early and in walking to the dining hall, we noticed bird poo absolutely all over the communal grounds area, leaves everywhere, unkept gardens, a green murky swimming pool and an overall area that seemed like it had seen better days. We proceeded to get our breakfast, even though it took 15 minutes to get the coffee machine to work as it was faulty. More than half of the hand sanitisers were empty, which meant that during these Covid times, patrons were unable to sanitise their hands as they were taking food from the buffet. We left for the day and on our return that evening at around 8.30pm, we anticipated our room would be cleaned. We walked in and we noticed that the bed had been made and the toilet rolls folded nicely. However, the floors and everything else that we had bought to reception’s attention the night before was still in the same disgusting state. We quickly proceeded to reception to discuss this unacceptable issue. We asked for the manager however he would not be in until Monday. By now we had reached the point of extreme frustration and were completely annoyed that we were paying $250 per night for this sub-standard resort hotel. The night reception staff listened to our feedback and advised that he would make appropriate notes and let the General Manager know on Monday (which was the day we were leaving) and get him to contact us. We requested a 50% reduction in what we had paid as we knew that what we were paying for was certainly not what we were getting from this hotel. The room was never actually cleaned. We felt disgusted walking barefoot in our own room. We couldn’t walk around the grounds comfortably. We couldn’t use the pool. We couldn’t use the laundry facilities. This all for $250 per night! When we left on Monday morning, we were glad to be out of there. We reminded the reception to get the General Manager to call us. We waited until that afternoon and still no call, so we called and left a message. We did get a return call the following day, but as we were not in coverage area we missed it. After a few calls back and forth, Chris finally called on Friday afternoon and we explained the above to him. Whilst he didn’t deny that the state of the hotel was hard to maintain due to a cockatoo issue, he took on board all the feedback. However, it was surprising that he wasn’t aware of this feedback from his staff considering we approached them 3 times in our 2 night stay. He mentioned he would get back to us within a day or 2 to advise about the 50% refund after he had spoken to his reservations team. Up until now, we are still waiting. With no doubts this was the poorest experience we have ever encountered at any Accor branded property.

Brilliant only in the Kakadu

Loved finally to stay in the Croc Hotel! The Chef is a genius. Equal to Maggi Beer in South Aust. Wondered why there were white feathers all on bushes to pool area. Dusk told me why with the cacophony of bird calls: pure Gold. Old fashion big rooms with real furniture.

our stay was stranged, we stayed at the Mercure around the world but this one is different. we got a disabled room and everything seems slightly not quite right. we did not get the room clean or made up the second day. the staff is running off their feet, one staff member acting like a boss, slightly toward the aggressive side, i even saw him told off another staff member in front of everyone. Maybe he is the owner? overall, i give this hotel 2 stars max.

Friendly, great experience

Had a great trip to Kakudu, even though the dry hadn't really started yet. The hotel is well located. A little dated, but good service and a good breakfast.

Due to lack of room cleanliness

Valerie L 02/02/2021 TripAdvisor review

The room I had was very very dirty. I have photographs to prove it, and showed them to reception on leaving. To be charge $189 for a room as dirty as this is disgraceful. I also have difficult dietary requirements, due to allergies, and there was nothing on the menu I could normally eat, so had to eat something I wouldn't usually. Between booking to go to the restaurant for the following night, and turning up on the night I was booked for, the booking was 'lost' even though I'd had long discussions about my diet with the staff, before booking. Apart from this the staff were very helpful in all but one case.
