Great location and fabulous staff

This was a weekend escape and we really enjoyed the location, accommodation was good with lots of lam lights versus just an overhead - I think the chaise lounge needs a clean(minor point) but the staff and the food were fabulous

Hotel needs revamp.. rooms unsatisfactory

The room was not clean on arrival .. there was significant mound in the bathroom and the bath floor felt like there was no support under your feet so you felt like you were going to fall through.. old furniture and not much furniture in the rooms- disappointed .. breakfast was fantastic

Horrible

Our bedding was stained. Staff gave new linen, but didnt take the stained linen. Walls were dripping wet. Room stank very badly of mould. Mattresses were soaking wet and gave my kids rashes. Toilet door handle was falling off. Sink basin was hanging off. Toilet wouldnt flush properly. Kids GF meal was 1 baby potato and a small piece of fish. Had to request more food for them. We left after 1 night.

Disappointing

I was disappointed with our stay to be honest, the 2 rooms we had had a very bad smell and both the carpets/beds/pillows felt damp to touch. The floors in both bathrooms where extremely dirty and the 155 room we had parts of the wall and ceiling had damp rot. The remote for the fan was missing which also had the only proper light. I can imagine that with Covid your facility would not be very busy so I would suggest some maintenance to the rooms (opening and airing them out) The foyer & restaurant where lovely and a nice welcome so I was disappointed at the state of the rooms. We stayed 02 and had 2 rooms booked 155 & 152 Karli C. 04…

Michael Families - 08/01/2021 Confirmed reviews ALL

Check-in was underwhelming, we were not told anything about the hotel, surroundings, breakfast.. anything - pretty much just sign this declaration and hand over the keys. The room was dirty, mouldy air conditioner, dust all behind the bedside tables. We also dined in the restaurant after viewing the menu online, however when we arrived the menu was completely different and not at all to the same standard as what is advertised. If the menu has changed then you need to update the website! Three of the meals were OK, one was inedible which we explained to the waiter and this was taken off the bill. When charging $30+ for a main dish they should be much better than this. We were originally planning to have breakfast in the restaurant but changed our mind based on this experience and went elsewhere. As a side note, the restaurant staff were lovely and very accommodating, as was the gentleman who checked us out the next morning. The beds were very comfortable.

The bar service at dinner was terrible - new staff with limited English. Breakfast was good. Room was adequate.

Customer service was superb. The staff in all areas of the hotel were very helpful and friendly. The rooms were not very clean and require updating.

Stayed with a friend for two nights at Mercure Crocodile Hotel. Room was well appointed and comfortable. Food and beverage staff were friendly, some front desk staff less so! The exterior of the hotel is starting to look a little dated and in need of maintenance/refreshing. Lack of undercover parking is unfortunate due to probability of high temperatures and stormy weather.

Andrew Couples - 08/01/2021 Confirmed reviews ALL

My wife and I enjoyed our stay and found the hotel met expectations for a property of its age in a remote location. The staff were very pleasant and eager to please. However it was apparent there wasn’t enough staff on duty, particularly for check out and in the restaurant at dinner.

Dear Andrew, We very much appreciate your comments regarding your stay at the Mercure Kakadu Crocodile Hotel. It is always a pleasure to receive positive feedback. In regards to staffing, You are correct in thinking it is difficult to recruit new staff in such a remote location such as Jabiru. Recruiting for a remote location can be a challenge at the best of times, but even more so with the added benefits received during covid for being unemployed. Thank you again for sharing your experience, and we hope your next visit will be as pleasant as the previous one. Sincerely, Joshua McLean Room Division Manager

Run down poor value for money

Petra Families - 06/01/2021 Confirmed reviews ALL

Room is very worn and tired, certainly not worth the price. Sliding glass doors did not even close properly and had to use masking tape to cover the gap, which you could put your hands through and mozxies inside. Upon inspection, most rooms had the same issue. Air-conditioning did not work properly and desk was blistered from moisture. Curtains were mouldy, carpets stained and glass unclean ceiling fan and room light did not work. External was shabby with missing paint, dirty marks and cobwebs all up the walls. Maintenance was not present and a groundsman tried to rectify our issues. I would not stay here again or recommend this place. We had better value for money stays in the local area. Worst place we stayed whilst in the area.

First room we were given smelt so disgusting that I went straight back to ask for another room. The receptionist came up with me to smell the room before he decided that yes it wasn't a normal smell and we were given another room. I would not have been able to stay there if they didn't give us another room. Beds are too small they are all doubles and you need a minimum of a Queen for adult couples I don't understand why the beds are so small because the rooms are a decent size. Staff did the best they could with what they had, but the hours they were working was obvious and there was no, going out of their way to assist in any inquiries. Stairs leading up to rooms could do with a thorough clean. Hot water would take approx 6-10 minutes to warm up enough for a shower. We were excited to stay at this hotel but the experience was very disappointing and I would not recommend it to anyone. We missed our breakfast we had paid for in advance one of the mornings because we went on the Yellow Water Cruise and the Hotel would not provide a refund because the excuse was I had booked it through a third party so it's basically my problem that I paid for breakfast that I didn't get (disgusting attitude for this style of hotel). If you can't run an icon business that is supposed to provide a fabulous experience of Kakadu properly then sell it and give it to someone who can. This hotel, I believe would be a part of the reason that travelers now refer to Kakadu as Kakadon't. I thoroughly enjoyed the activities in the area with Yellow Water Cruise being one of the highlights of the trip. I noticed a projector, laptop, movie (DVD) and Speakers in the conference room and asked if there were movies playing for kids. The response was, they didn't know and it was probably a private function because it was in the conference room. This was the same for the whole three days we were there. There was no conference and no one used the room, the resources and the DVD sat the same for the entire time we were there. I can't believe how easy it would have been to offer kids a movie or run movie nights in that room for children. The small things make a huge difference. I am so disappointed as I truly thought this place would be one of the highlights of our trip.

Great staff, but hotel well overdue for renovation.

Very happy with with staff at front desk & restaurant who were polite & hard working. Good distancing between tables in the restaurant, with minimal wait for enjoyable food. The room was comfortable but very run down, disappointing for such an iconic hotel. When international tourists again grace our shores, I hope they'll experience a revamped, modern Mercure Kakadu Crocodile hotel.
