I had a really pleasant stay at this hotel. The location is excellent — close to key attractions and easy to reach by car or public transport, which made getting around simple and stress‑free. One of the biggest advantages was the free car parking. It was spacious, easy to access, and took away the usual hassle of finding a spot in the city. The breakfast was very good, with a nice variety of fresh options to start the day. Everything was well presented, and the staff kept the area clean and well-stocked. Overall, a comfortable and convenient place to stay, and I’d happily return.

I had an exceptional stay at this hotel. From the moment I arrived, the team made me feel genuinely welcomed. The check‑in process was smooth, my room was spotless, and every staff member I met was warm and attentive. The breakfast was very good, with plenty of fresh options to start the day, and the dinner was tasty — a real highlight after a long day of travelling. The dining team clearly take pride in what they do. The location was convenient, and the overall atmosphere made the stay feel relaxed and comfortable. I left feeling well cared for and would happily return.

Have stayed before and location is perfect for visit to family. Quiet even though close to motorway. Housekeeping was a bit lacking this time tho - pillow slips on inside out, quilt to one side so looked like bed had been made in a rush! A number of items that were freely available, now only available on request. Nice breakfast. Staff all very pleasant. Must mention nighttime Assistant Manager on duty on 30th March who handled some excessively demeaning customers extremely professionally but even apologised to us in case we had been upset by the incident,

There was an unpleasant smell in our room. This was reported to reception. The smell was like sewerage/sulphur and did not go away. Room 310 and I know that room 308 had the same problem. It was disgusting and I don’t expect that from a Mercure hotel. There seems to be a plumbing issue. The room also had multiple stains on the floor, furniture and curtains. Crumbs on the table. The smell was the worst thing. I did not enjoy my stay and I don’t expect to pay so much for this room as it was borderline uninhabitable due to the smell which may also present a health issue.

What you’ve described is far below the standards we set for ourselves, and I completely understand how upsetting and unacceptable this must have been for you. The odour you encountered in Room 310 — and the fact that it persisted even after being reported — is extremely concerning. A smell of that nature is not something any guest should ever have to tolerate, and I am truly sorry that it impacted your stay so severely. I also appreciate you letting us know that Room 308 appeared to have the same issue, as this helps us identify the root cause more quickly. I will be escalating this immediately with our maintenance and facilities teams to investigate the plumbing system thoroughly and ensure the problem is fully resolved. Equally, the cleanliness issues you mentioned — stains on the floor, furniture, and curtains, as well as crumbs left on the table — are simply not acceptable. You should never have been checked into a room in that condition. I am addressing this directly with our housekeeping leadership to ensure standards are reinforced and that rooms are inspected with far greater care. I am genuinely sorry that your stay was so disappointing and that you felt the room was borderline uninhabitable. No guest should ever feel that way, especially when staying with a brand like Mercure. Your comfort, safety, and peace of mind are incredibly important to us, and I regret that we fell so short on this occasion. Thank you again for bringing these issues to my attention. I had a fantastic stay at this hotel. The property is clean, modern, and very well maintained. The staff were friendly, professional, and made me feel welcome from the moment I arrived. My room was spacious with a very comfortable bed, and I appreciated the tea and coffee station. Breakfast was excellent, with a proper English breakfast cooked well. Overall, a very enjoyable experience, and I would definitely return.
