I chose the Ibis Styles instead of the local Mercure, thinking that I would get get better value for money. The room smelt unaired and stale when I arrived and the dog most definitely didn’t like the laminate floor. The curtain wasn’t hanging from all the hooks, and the chair, designed like it or not with only one arm was ridiculous being the only chair in the room. It proved to be the most uncomfortable chair ever. The shower had very low water pressure so you couldn’t stand under it and get wet, you had to hand hold it. On top of all of this, despite having booked a table for a my Saturday night supper, I was rung late afternoon to be told that my booking had to be be cancelled due to a large coach party changing their time, but I could have dinner at 6pm. I was far from pleased but in fact after a very disappointing supper the previous night which I struggled to eat, I ate elsewhere and had a dinner that was was far superior to anything on offer at the Ibis.

We had a stay at an ibis style. I felt sorry for the very overworked small number of staff. This made us uncomfortable

Clean room but noisy from the road. It was perfectly quiet in the corridor but very noisy in the room. Maybe an ill fitting window.

A one night stay at Haydock. Quite honestly the cleanliness of the hotel was not satisfactory - the hotel had a large message saying could customers do more to help through C19 and yet the rooms, bar seating etc was not clean enough.

Dear Michael, Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay, I am sorry to read your comments regarding our housekeeping, had you brought the issues to our attention we would have endeavored to correct them at the time. In relation to the lounge seating it is used on a regular basis most often by the teams of workmen we have on a regular basis, we don't insist that they change their clothing when they return from work so the seating does become somewhat stained however we do have a regular cleaning regime to try and maintain the standard, I am sorry if this was not apparent during your stay. This was my 3rd stay in Haydock Ibis. Perfectly located to visit my son, daughter in law and new grandson. So I will be back!! Warm, comfortable and clean. And my request for a room on the quieter side of the building was accomodated without any problem.

Towels smelling (Oily) Body wash and Shampoo was empty The sofa bed was smaller than what you would expect in other hotels (Holiday Inn) - Only our 10-year-old was able to comfortably sleep (no way two kids 9 & 10 can sleep on the same bed) They provided another small-baby bed for our 9-year-old! The springs were broken and my son was as if he was in a hammock! There is no airconditioning in the room - just one heater and a window. So, when we informed the receptionist about the bed size, body wash/shampoo, and whether we can move to two different rooms so that we have enough space on the beds, the lady in charge said: "Ohh yeah, the beds are for toddlers, your kids are older so the bed won't fit.... leave it with me I will sort it out"... "I'll get the body wash/shampoo refilled as well". Guess what... when we can back, the beds were the same, the springs were broken, body wash/shampoo wasn't refilled ... when we asked again, she came in and fixed the spring... completely opposite to what she said earlier that your kids cannot sleep on these smaller beds! When I asked about moving to different rooms, she said we are full!! After about 10 minutes, they did bring Body wash/Shampoo. We originally planned to stay here for three days, we had to cut short our stay and check out earlier than planned and booked another hotel, which was an inconvenience to us but we had a good sleep! Very dissatisfied with the service/rooms, not sure if I can blame all the staff, as most of them were helpful, but I would really blame the management of the hotel. If you thinking of staying here and you are a family of four, with 9, 10 years old or above children, I would personally not recommend this hotel, as you will not have a pleasant sleep. Also, as other reviewers have mentioned, the car noise from A580 (East Lancashire Road) is not great either when you're sleeping - try to ask for a room facing the car park.

we were expecting a standard hotel, however pleasantly surprised to find it was a much cleaner, comfortable,spacious and decent place to stay. Plenty of ammenities and staff were friendly and helpful, we would definately stay here again.The only downside was we were facing the main road which is a very busy road and the noise even when you close the window was a little disruptive, could do with better glazing.

Overnight stay to break journey

As usual the IBIS at Haydock met our requirements well for an overnight stop. This time we had an extra room for a lady who is 89 years old and visually impaired. She enjoyed her stay and found no difficulty during the stay. The only comment I would have this time is that it should be made very clear to guests on arrival in a car that the parking system on the reception desk must be updated as well as giving car details to the receptionist. We have already wrongly received a Parking Notice from a previous stay because the process was not clear, although the hotel is handling this issue on our behalf.

Stayed as a family of 3 in 2 rooms. Single beds were so tiny was worried we would fall out of them. Worse still was the ROCK HARD mattress and pillows. Room stank of cigarettes. We stayed here as was travelling from Hamshire to attend my mum's funeral next day so wanted a good night's sleep. We all slept badly and woke aching from the ridiculously hard mattress and pillows. We need to make a return trip but will be staying elsewhere. Made an emotional day worse through lack of sleep.

A very grim Christmas

We booked a family room for Xmas Day so we could see relatives. Unfortunately the room had a double bed but then two broken camp beds with thin mattresses on them. There was no room around the beds to actually move safely. It was clearly not a family room. There was no way the kids would have been able to sleep in them so we had to find them last minute accommodation with a family member. The room itself was quite dirty - handprints on the windows and dirty finger prints too. We were on floor 2 which smelled incredibly strongly of cannabis. Next doors television was so loud we decided not to bother putting ours on. The noise of other guests continued late into the night. It was a waste of money and we will never stay there again.
