A disappointing stay overall. Booked a king room but the bed was only a double. Foxtel advertised but did not work. Hotel looking very tired and worn in general. Restaurant closed for dinner, understandable at the current time but hotel website gives the impression it’s still open. Difficult to use the Accor drink vouchers unless I’d wanted several coffees with breakfast, would have been nice if these were usable on room service drinks (even if only a soft drink). Positives were friendly staff and room cleanliness.

This time I was uncertain about what to expect because of the Covid situation. I was delighted with the services that the staff was able to provide. I was particularly grateful for the restaurant being available with a very good menu. I intend to stay at North Melbourne Mercure again as soon as Covid settles down.

Only stayed one night has family could not accommodate us in their home . Staff were pleasant. Enjoyed a few beers in the bar. Reservations people were very helpful. Have stayed in Mercure a lot in Japan and France so am very familiar with the style.

Due to COVID we country dwellers were quite nervous of being in Melbourne. But your reception staff put us at ease. They were very friendly and helpful (special thanks, Alex). We dined in the restaurant, and the food and service were excellent. We used room service for breakfast, and the servings were generous and well cooked. The bed was very comfortable, the room was clean and well presented. Only suggestion - the shower end of the bath needs attention to the grouting.

We stayed a few years back and liked the hotel, this time however it seems to be in desperate need of an upgrade and had missed the mark in several areas. We arrived, check in was no problem we had requested a quiet room, we were told that we had received an upgrade to a quiet, larger room. The lift seemed like it was ready to break at any moment on the way up and no matter which way you exit from the car park there are stairs, this is difficult with large bags. The hallways are like a maze, and floor felt like a cobble stone tooth path. When we finally found our room it was bigger, yes but the bed was a queen, we had booked a king. I asked the reception if we could move to a room with a king bed as we were staying for 5 nights and we had booked a king bed for extra space and comfort. We were told that we could be moved back to a king however the room would be smaller. We walked in to the new room which was only 2 rooms away from the noisy lift (our quiet room request had gone unnoticed as well) the room did in fact have a king bed however it was rock hard. The first night the pillows were that bad we hardly got any sleep. The next day we contemplated leaving and cancelling the rest of our stay, we didn’t instead we asked for some more pillows and this helped a lot. The bed needs a pillow topper or something, it felt like crap! The room was in a terrible condition, there were large stains all over the carpet, the bed side light keep falling off, we had down lights above us out, the shower leaked and dripped to the point we had to remove it from the top handle to stop it dripping, the mirror in the bathroom had black marks all over it and the air conditioner was constantly on cold, even when we turned it up or down. It was horrible. We tried to connect to the wifi, it didn’t work… even though we were told there was free wifi, enquired at reception and we told ‘oh sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t, best time of the day is afternoon’ we never got it to work successfully. We asked about the foxtel channels in the room as they appeared to be non existent and were told ‘oh they cancelled that subscription during covid’ - so no wifi, no foxtel, a tiny tv, no in house movies, only free to air channels and wifi that didn’t work. We then went for go for a swim, the pool area was locked, after waiting several minutes for the staff member to find a key we were let in, the sauna area was so grubby we didn’t use it, there were dirty ash trays around the pool area and the pool ladder was not connected to the pool so you couldn’t get in or out of the pool, the ladder was literally handing off the wall by one bolt. So we did not go in the pool for fear of not being able to get out. There were 2 days of our stay that housekeeping didn’t service the room until after 3pm, this was annoying as if you had been out all day it’s nice to come back to a clean room. The whole place just felt dirty and had not much going for it unfortunately. We did have a nice breakfast on the first morning, we went back on the 3rd day of our trip and the breakfast wasn’t as good, it took 40 mins to come out even though there were hardly any people eating and they got my order incorrect, I advised the waiter as I didn’t want to be charged for the extra items I had received on my plate, but not to worry about bringing them out as we had waited so long anyway. It was just average, nothing special, more negatives that positives.

We chose the Mercure for location to the Peter MacCallum hospital and it was very convenient for us. The room was clean but for anymore than 2 nights (which was our stay) we would ask for a room with a larger window, we found it a little dark. Initially the TV didn't work, but the friendly staff helped us with that, so all good. The staff at the Mercure we wonderful at both reception and in the restaurant. It was a pleasant experience.

My only issue was that parking was not provided and this was not clearly communicated during the booking process. As it was Saturday night I was able to park across the street however I’ve never booked a hotel room before that did not include a carpark with the price.

Location was ideal.

A bit noisy, at night - being not far from noisy elevator... Room tiny for 3 people, lights in bathroom - 1 flickered and 1 out; only flickered one got changed... toilet seat not secure. Staff courteous and helpful.

Well on arrival staff where very good and the room we went to Len didn't like so we got the one we like have been in before. He just like the big windows. The staff member was her 1st day and she helped me with the bags and Len has oxgyen cyclinders.

Middle of a lockdown and the staff managed to make sure we wanted for nothing and nothing was too much trouble. Would always be happy to stay here. Room service meals and range from menu were above expectations. Drinks to rooms was also appreciated.

Great location if visiting the Royal Children's Hospital or the Zoo. Easy access into the City by trams or a short walk. Hotel food good value. Rooms a little tired but very clean and all facilities. WiFi excellent and very good service from the Hotel staff.
