The hotel was lovely. The only thing wrong was the breakfast was cold on first morning but second day it was lovely.

Waited hours and hours to check into our room after a very long train journey of 6 hours from Brighton. Hotel did absolutely nothing to ease the wait..no updates, no coming to find us in reception with our key cards, no complimentary vouchers of any kind just " sit and wait for the rooms to be ready which is taking much longer due to staff shortages". Finally got in at 7pm... The minibar (free with the premium room we had booked for 3 nights) was half empty and had still the previous occupant's half drunk miniature bottle of wine in it..last time I stayed, 2 months ago, this hotel was not at this low standard. Maybe demand and occupancy filled with Conferences and tour groups from the Ferries and ships might be a step too far for it to stay above water. Real pity.
