The room was well appointed and had lots of space. Breakfast was excellent and service was good. One bad mark was we found at least 10 lojg black hairs throughout the room. Not acceptable. Also, no milk for tea?

I had the most enjoyable 8 night stay at the Mercure in Clermont-Ferrand. My room had a very nice modern feel, and overlooked the Place de Jaude. Everything was very clean, comfortable, and well maintained. The staff asked me ahead of time if there was anything extra they could do for me. I explained to them I was traveling overnight to France from the states, and inquired if I could have a room available when I arrived. They said they would do the best they could, and when I arrived they had my room immediately available. After traveling 18 hours, and 3 flights later, having a room immediately available was the best feeling ever. The front desk staff were polite, and friendly. They explained how everything works at the hotel, and asked me to call the front desk should I need anything. Being from the states, safety is always a major concern for me. The front desk explained to me that no one can get to my floor without a room key, which you also need for the elevator to get to the floor your room is on. I felt very safe at this hotel. Breakfast, which was included in my stay, was amazing. Every breakfast item you can imagine, they had there. They had so many different types of coffee, and tea; it was unbelievable. The staff in the breakfast room were very polite, and eager to help you in any way. The breakfast room was very large, with plenty of tables, and comfortable seating, with a very inviting atmosphere. I looked forward to having breakfast there every morning. On my last day, the front desk staff had a taxi waiting for me at 5:30 am, very early in the morning, to take me to the airport. I could not have asked for more. If I had to think of one thing that I wish I could have had at the Mercure, it would have been to have a longer stay !

in fact, so good we booked for our return journey. Smart, clean, great welcome, spacious room, nice touches (eg water, still and sparkling (and local), sweets (again local) on the bed, superb breakfast choice and really pleasant staff. Can't fault it and will certainly return
