Dear Sofitel Management, I am writing to express my profound disappointment with the recent encounter my husband and I had with our reservation at your esteemed establishment. Upon our check-in on March 19th, 2024, we were greeted cordially by your staff who informed us of a purported "room upgrade." Naturally, we were elated at the prospect of experiencing enhanced accommodations at the Sofitel. However, our excitement quickly turned to dismay upon entering the room, which appeared to be a boisterous party suite located in close proximity to the hotel's rooftop and secretive rum bar. Despite our initial confusion, we graciously accepted the tour of this so-called "upgraded room," only to promptly request to be relocated to the room we had originally booked and prepaid for through Accor (Ocean Front Legendary Suite), as loyal members. Shockingly, we were informed that the legendary oceanfront suite, which we had meticulously selected and paid for in advance, was mysteriously unavailable. It became evident that the hotel had double-booked our room and attempted to mask the oversight with a disingenuous "upgrade." Subsequently, a manager contacted our room to address the situation. Regrettably, her response fell far short of satisfactory. She exhibited a lack of empathy and failed to offer a genuine apology for the inconvenience caused. Instead, she vaguely promised to consult with her superior the following morning to discuss potential compensation. Furthermore, we were informed that the legendary suite would only be available the next day, necessitating an inconvenient room switch during what was intended to be a seamless and enjoyable vacation. This experience has left a profound mark on our stay at the Sofitel Legend hotel. Not only was our special occasion, a birthday surprise for my husband, marred by this ordeal, but the blatant deception in disguising the relinquishment of a reserved room as an "upgrade" has tarnished our initial impression of your establishment. Such deceitful practices are wholly unacceptable and not reflective of the level of service and integrity one would expect from a renowned brand like Sofitel. On the second day of our vacation, we were moved the room originally booked (Ocean Front Legendary 1 BDR King Suite). Upon check-out, we had spoken with Janina Canate who informed us that our first night stay would be refunded as we did not stay in the room that was originally booked. We have yet to see that refund on our credit card statement. Moreover, an email was sent to management on March 19th, 2024 and to Janina Canate on April 1st, 2024 with no response. I trust that you will address this matter with the urgency and attention it deserves, and I eagerly await your prompt response. Kind Regards, Dr. Alisha R.
