Novotel London Canary Wharf 4 stars

We had an great stay at the Novotel in Canary Wharf. The staff were efficient and friendly and made us feel very welcome at the front desk. We only stayed for one night on the 12th floor, with an amazing panoramic view of the London skyline, where we could see the Shard, the Gherkin and Walkie Talkie buildings very clearly. The room was fairly basic but just what we needed and we felt it was very good value for the price. It was clean and had everything we needed. The bed was slightly too firm for us, but that is personal preference, so not a problem. The curtains let in a bit too much light through a gap in the middle, and there are no blackout blinds in the room. It would be great to be able to pull the curtains to overlap slightly, to avoid any sunlight peeping through. The bathroom was not particularly sound proofed, so be warned that everything can be heard in the bedroom! Easy fix - turn on the TV or play some music ;D The location is perfect for getting around town. Just a five minute walk over the footbridge to Canary Wharf station, where you can catch the Jubilee and Elizabeth lines, and another 2 minutes to the DLR. Lots of great cafes and restaurants nearby too, so lots of reasons to stay here. We arrived back to the hotel after a night out at around 11pm. Sadly the bar was closed by then, so next time we will make a special effort to see the views from the roof terrace and taste some cocktails at the bar.

Satisfactoriy experience in every respect. Food appeared to be expensive.

Very welcoming - staff was friendly

We stayed in the suite 808, the room was spacious and well laid out. It was noticed that there was loose tobacco on the remote and on the sofa, which whilst there was only a bit, lowered the tone a bit. There is a nice bath in the bedroom area, however, the plug faulty which meant it couldn’t be filled. Only staying for one evening these were minor points, due to our own plans and time scales not worth raising at the time. In general the the experience was pleasant was fast and efficient staff at the front desk and room service was excellent. The breakfast was a nice and relaxed experience save for a member of staff walking over to speak over their colleague and I to inform them of some minor issue which I found to be quite rude if only ill timed. Again, this wasn’t terrible just unexpected. The location was excellent with only one stop from the O2 on the Jubilee line and I would stay here again.
