Good location, rather grim interiors

The location and the styling like an authentic 1950s apartment drew us in. But we were left with the feeling that the decoration was just a suitable excuse to leave rooms in a substandard state. The peeling wallpaper, tired carpets, broken bath and lumpy mattresses were well below the standard we would expect from Ibis styles, more akin to any old 2 star train station hotel that was given a lick of paint a couple of years ago. It is entirely understandable that somethings like the small lift, or cracked original glass bricks can’t reasonably be updated, and these add to the charm. However the same doesn’t apply to corridor lighting and soft furnishings. On the plus side: The breakfast room was lovely, and exactly what we were expecting from the hotel as a whole, mid century decoration and furniture but in a clean modern setting. Every member of staff that we met was great though and the location couldn’t be bettered.

Very comfortable in a good location but...

Two days stay in very cold weather. Top floor room, lovely and warm, big windows but smelly bathroom unless we left the fan and light going. Staff very helpful and friendly. Petit dej ample and mostly fresh with homemade yoghurt and apple compote. Good coffee too.
