I stay here every time I go to Beijing I’m and a big fan of this hotel. Great location, nice rooms, and friendly and helpful staff. At this price, I couldn’t ask for anything more. This time I wasn’t happy with my room because the shower was in the bathtub, which seemed inconvenient at best and an easy way to fall at worst. I called the desk and requested a room with a separate bathtub and shower, and within five minutes a staff member came to my room and took me to a much nicer room with a great bathroom. It really made my weekend.

I used accor app booking , when I check in they told me no show in their system.and then they confirm with reservation again gave to me same result.these situations are same with I stay in NOVOTEl. many times NO SHOW.i really don't want to explain and waiting check in again again.seems like guest make some fault.pillows and quilt give off terrible smell.soap is used by last guest,window is not opened ,door clock is damage.airconditioner turn up high heat still shows 19 degrees all night!!! Really would not recommend for you!!! I never stay in this hotel No Second time!

Room temperature is very high, called the room service, was told that the air-condition has been shut down, there is no way to adjust the room temperature. Finally, the room service gave me a fan, better than nothing.

Grand Mercure Beijing Dongcheng is the accor hotel in Beijing with the best service. The excecutive lounge manager Mia upgraded my room to suite, and he was quite entertaining when we had a talk at the lounge. The breakfast and happy hour were OK.

I always stay here when traveling to Beijing. It’s the nicest hotel in the Gulou neighborhood and I’m always happy with the room (especially the bathtub). This time was even better though. Because of a booking mixup on 飞猪 (not the hotel’s fault), they couldn’t find my info and I had to wait 10 minutes during check-in. Not a big deal at all and the staff was extremely polite and friendly while she figured out what was going on. Then she said because of the mix-up she had upgraded my room for free. This was no minor upgrade - this room was bigger than my old apartment: two bathrooms, two TVs, an office area, a huge bathtub, and lots more. Thanks to this upgrade and great service all weekend, I really got to relax and get work done in my room. And because of that, my meeting went exceptionally well. Great service and hospitality really can change peoples’ lives for the better. This stay proves it. Thank you!

I'm a regular guest at this hotel and originally chose it for its excellent location (very close to the subway for getting to work and also very convenient for bars, restaurants and tourist attractions, if you happen to be staying for leisure) and because of a recommendation from the manager of the Swissotel, which is currently closed for refurbishment, where I was also a regular visitor. The fabric of the place is in good condition and the rooms are large and well appointed and there is a very nice lobby bar/cafe (Cafe 101) where you will get excellent service from the likes of Fiona and Sonic, who always greet you with a smile and a friendly word and go out of there way to make you feel at home. The best thing for me though are the people, who are a great credit to the new general manager, Billy and Steven, who runs the front office. On the reception desks my go to people are Grace and George who are unfailingly friendly and accommodating and are always happy to offer advice and help (on this occasion they helped me arrange to get a parcel sent from the hotel to my company office in Gansu province). I should say that I mention Grace and George in particular as I know them both from their time at the Swissotel, but everyone on the front desks are great, so it really doesn't matter who you go to. If you are lucky enough to have a room or Le Club Accor membership that gives you access to the lounge you will meet Annie or Billy, who take it in turns to look after the Executive lounge. Both are lovely people and will really make your feel welcome. The personal touch I referred to in the title of this review was never more clearly demonstrated than on my last visit; I always struggle to find a bath robe in Chinese hotels that is big enough and on one of my previous visits I had mentioned this to the staff at the Grand Mercure. On my first night of this visit I was greeted by Steven, Sonic, George and Annie who had arranged to get me a large robe and came to the lounge to present it to me. As if that were not enough, they also brought me a couple of bottles of beer and macaroons with my Wechat profile picture printed on them! I have never come across such a gesture in any hotel and I was and still am, really touched and grateful and really want to thank everyone involved. I have absolutely no hesitation recommending this hotel for business or leisure and I look forward to returning again very soon

I travel to Beijing a lot and had always previously stayed at the Swissotel but, at Christmas time that hotel closed for refurbishment and will not reopen for at least another 18 months. During my last visit to the Swiss I asked the general manager for a recommendation as to where I should go in future and he put me in touch with Ms Aifen, the GM of the Mercure Dongcheng. What a favour he did for me! I have just finished my first stay there and it was a delight. Ms Aifen made me feel extremely welcome and did everything she could to make my stay a great experience. A bonus, for me, was that there were some of the people from the Swiss who have transferred to the Grand Mercure and it was a joy to see them. From George who checked me in (a great guy who is friendly and helpful and just an all-round nice person), to Annie who has moved from a back office position to looking after the guests in the lounge (an inspired choice by whoever decided to put her at the front of house, as she is a lovely friendly lady with great English language skills). It would be nice for me to think I got special treatment because I know them both from the old hotel, but I'm 100% sure it is not the case, they are just friendly, professional, people who want to do the best for the guests and they are a credit to the hotel and to Aifen, who has put together a great team. It would be wrong to concentrate on my old acquaintances from the Swissotel, as all the staff were great and a credit to Steven and his team at the front of house. Location wise, the hotel is very good: close to the Hutongs and Lama temple, with plenty of local bars and eating places (although the food in the hotel is very good and includes a Japanese restaurant). It is also 5 minutes from the metro and so works very well for leisure or business. The hotel is clean, modern and well maintained and the room I had was was of the best I have stayed in over the 12 years I have been visiting Beijing. The house keeping was exceptional. If I wanted to be picky, some of the staff might be encouraged to smile a bit more, but if that is all anyone can find to be critical of, then you know this place is pretty good. Thanks to everyone for looking after me and I look forward to seeing you again in the future.

My recent stayed in Grand Mercure Beijing Dongcheng was absolutely disappointed for 3 reasons :1. Check in On Aug 18 at about 4 pm, took more than 30 minutes to secure my room . No upgrade no welcome fruits despite being Accor Gold member . 2. Booked and paid for Club Executive floor but there was no services, was told club floor was closed .3. Check out on Aug 23rd , took more than 30 minutes to check out, and worst scenario of which I was told my name was not in the system ? I had asked for a Printed copy of the invoice / or statement of account and that by surprised no name ( blank ) ? 4. 9 days agter returned to Malaysia I had checked my membership record again to my surprised no record shown my stayed from Aug 22 to 23rd ?

The hotel has a very good position not far from Tien An Men square and the Forbidden City, in fact in Beijing 5km can be considered as 'nearby'. Luxurious rooms for a very convenient price. We had just breakfast which was continental with an Asian flair. Rooms are spacious, very comfy beds and huge bathrooms!

The longer I stayed at the hotel, the worse I felt. For example, the house keeper left the toilet floor drain open after cleaning. And when I reminder her, she said she could "help to close it". Another example, the reception lady rejected to call me back when she had the new room ready for transfer when I asked to have a more silent room. An hour later when I came to the reception I was asked to wait while the lady who was handling my case was away for lunch and the gentleman who was on duty was busy with other business. I have to say they might not be wrong but I did not feel good and was not satisfied with the service because I felt I was not treated as a guest.
