friendly, attentive staff, but questionable management decisions

all staff were very friendly and attentive despite the hardship of Corona. However we do did not understand, why management made the stay so unpleasant. We had to take breakfast in the room, where there was no appropriate table and seating. Very poor! Also welcome drink, that we are entitled as Platinum Members were only poor Softdrinks.

I stayed quite a few times at Baraquda during my stays in Pattaya over the last years. I fully understand the changes due to COVID emergency but nevertheless there were quite a few issues during my 4 day stay. As Platinum member I was upgraded to Suites for both my rooms as I was travelling with family (not always available in the past). Nearly all the staff I used to know (my last stay back in February) was changed. I really did feel any recognition as loyal customer. The rooms are getting old and present some problems in particular with water leakage in the room from air con system. The mattras of room 5006 needs to be changed. Bad experience also with Breakfast. I understand the COVID emergency imposed changes but that does not justify the mould I found in my scrambled eggs. They were probably just cooked but the egg preparation was definately much older. I hope things will get back to usual high standards Baraquda offered in the past once the emergency will be over.

The hotel is located very close to the beach and business area. There are a lot of choice of restaurant around. The staff service is very friendly and polite. The suite I stay is very large and clean. The coffee machine provided in room is definitely a plus. I find the maintanace of the room is not aligned with the branch. A lots of detail in the room is rough, like the shower, door handle and electiric switch.

Location was good. But did not like the layout of the property. Room was very small. The wash basin was inside the bed room. When one person uses the basin the other people cannot come in or go out as the basin was right on the corridor. The buffet breakfast is not a full buffet. Need to order and the it takes a hell lot of a time for the food to arrive on the table. Once ordered and item and it came after more than half an hour when I was about to leave; half an hour to make a simple omelette? Once ordered boiled eggs and that never arrived. Don't what happened to the eggs: may be the hen is yet to lay them. And on a couple of occasions, some food was placed on our table which we never ordered! The staff looked artificially courteous. Out of the numerous times we went out and came in (with a baby stroller), only twice there was a person to open the heavy glass door for us at the entrance. Expected better than this from an Accor Group Hotel.

Stayed here for the 2nd time late last month. Overall have to say it was a disappointment. The Property is using the Sofitel MGallery name under false pretences - nothing more than a glorified Motel. Check-in was slow. Little or no recognition of being an Accor Platinum Member and that we had stayed previously. The English of most of the staff is not quite up to standard and certainly has not improved from a previous stay nearly 3 years ago. They try hard but in my opinion they lack direction. They could do with an onsite manager who speaks good English to guide and direct them more professionally. The food and service in the restaurant is average at best. Service for breakfast on the first morning of our 2 day stay was nothing but diabolical. The rooms are OK being clean but with a strange sort of layout. The biggest positive for the property is the swimming pool. Will not be going back for a 3rd stay.

Great location close to all the action. The hotel rooms are unusual as the wash basin is part of the bedroom, not good. Only the bar by the pool was open the others were closed, I’ve stayed at this hotel before and the bars were closed then also? Very friendly and helpful staff

Very very old bath towels with big hole and smelly wooden floor

The hotel location is nice close to walking street and shopping malls. The room is big but it has very strong smell of the wooden floor and the bath towels are very very old...got holes on it. NEVER thought that Accor hotels would have this. Kettle is broken. The rain shower only has water coming half of it. Room facility do not worth for money. I booked another hotel for the same price with bigger and nicer room with free breakfast!!!

In short, it was fine and did the job for a 1 night stay. Staff were nice, breakfast was good, everything was clean. But I wouldn't come back or recommend. - The day before I arrived I spent time completing an online check in via the link that was sent to me. This would allow me to simply pick up my key on arrival with no hanging around at reception. This turned out to be completely untrue and I still had 20+ mins at reception to wait on arrival. What's the point in sending the link and wasting everyone's time? - the room was clean, but dated. It's a problem with any 'design-y hotel' that they are not very practical - there isn't even anywhere to hang a hand towel next to the sink. More concerning was the door that seemed to be half hanging out of the door frame/didn't really close properly (3002), and the fact there was no deadlock from the inside. As a single female traveler this is a major safety issue and I didn't relax during my time in the room - half worried that I wouldn't hear a knock at the door and staff would come in while I was showering (or worse). - I wonder when Accor hotels will finally realise it's 2019 and unnecessary single use plastics are unacceptable. FYKI writing 'environmentally friendly' on a packet of plastic-stemmed cotton buds does not make them environmentally friendly (along with the rest of the small plastic bottles in the room). I also hung my towel up after the shower as I don't need a new one and at the turn down it got replaced anyway. Again, what's the point in putting up the sign to say you're saving the planet by not washing so many towels when you don't train your own staff to follow it? - the pool is only in the sun for about 3-4 hours in the morning. Not a lot you can do about that, but just a heads up for other travelers who are hoping to come and laze by the pool all day. On a more positive note, the staff were nice, the breakfast was good, everywhere was clean and I appreciated the later check out.

In regards to the online check in, as per standard procedure of any hotel, we have to scan and copy the ID card/passport of the people staying in the room and get a signature. I apologize that the process took 20 minutes, as we are running high occupancy and it may have taken time for our staff to get to you. I have instructed my Front office team to ensure moving forward, all guests who have checked in online, have a fast track check in as we only need to collect that single document from them. In regards to your room, we have set aside your room for maintenance and I have personally instructed my engineering team to scan and fix any issues found. We haven’t found any issue with the door, but thank you raising this point. I have told the team to check all doors of all rooms in the hotel as we head into the busy season. May I suggest that next time you face a security issue of such nature, please contact the front office staff right away so we can rectify it immediately. Thank you for raising your points regarding single use plastics. Allow me to inform you that Accor and the hotel are committed to do our bit in saving the planet, and that is evident in our planet 21 program, where we do a range of activities and implement practices to help nature. Allow me to inform you that from 2020, the hotel is committed to banning single use plastics. I have also spoken to my Housekeeping Director, to ensure all staff are trained with the new protocol and ensure they are maintaining the new standards we set out in rooms and public areas. At Hotel Baraquda, we strive to provide a superior service experience to every guest and I am sorry as we did not achieve this during your stay. I have stayed at this hotel every time I have visited Pattaya and each time the staff manage to exceed my expectations. I would like to personally thank Gaf Gaf, Pete, Jack and the rest the team for making my stay great. The staff make an effort to know you and are really helpfully, going out of their way to get things done for you. A special shout out to one of the bellboys whose name I just can’t remember but he went way beyond his duties to help my friend with a personal problem. Pros - Location, cleanliness, professionalism, safety, attention to detail and staff always with a smile. Cons - The rooms have started to show signs of wear and tear and need to be renovated. I have heard that they have started renovations but to my bad luck did not get a renovated room. Also asked for connecting rooms when making the booking and again two weeks before my trip started but was informed at check-in that none were available during my stay. That was a bummer. Overall, I enjoyed my stay here and look forward to returning back to this hotel during my next visit.

We have been to Baraquda countless times now, even back when it was part of the Dusit Group. The hotel is still great although showing some signs of age despite the recent small refurbishment. We generally consider Baraquda to be our go-to hotel in Pattaya. The reason for the "BUT" is that twice in a row now, the staff has seemingly paid zero attention to our requests. It's always said that requests are subject to availability but even up to last year, we had previously been able to give the actual room number we wanted and got it. This time we again asked for a quiet room far from the lifts and instead we got initially assigned to 4001, which is the room closest to the main lifts. Requesting another room got us a twin room instead and closer to the back road with noise from motorcycles. Arriving late as we usually do and getting stuck with problematic rooms is not the best, especially as our trips are generally short. For these problems to happen again on this trip despite the feedback I gave back in February is very disappointing and has us seriously considering our options for the next one. It's a shame too because service at Baraquda is generally excellent.

This hotel located in a very good location in Pattaya. Not at the side of the sea but in Pattaya town. Their rooftop bar can see the sea but not so close and high enough. Easy to find something to eat and next door is shopping mall. Hotel is not too new but still not too old. Clean enough to stay but a bit noisy due to the location is in the town of Pattaya City. Breakfast is so so, not so variety and the quality of food is so so also. Compare with their old day with the name Dusit D2 Baraquda, breakfast seems better quality. Overall is not too bad but not good enough under the brand MGallery by Sofitel. At best for this hotel if under Accor Group, I feel can position under Mercure Brand not MGallery by Sofitel. Quite expensive compare with overall facility, decoration, etc. But what you will get is, good service mind from hotel staff, clean and safe.

Great spot to stay, albeit a bit pricey to my mind. Rooms are quirky and fun, light switches are a bit of a challenge!! Why do hotels of this standard still use single ply toilet paper, that belongs in the 1960’s. Nice offer of free drinks at the rooftop bar, added to 2 for 1 happy hour means we got 4 cocktails for £7 excellent value, Rooms spotlessly clean, nice toiletries provided, nice towels, reception staff extremely friendly and helpful, despite the demand for B1000 per day deposit for a minibar with about 5 items in it. Excellent staff, great location,excellent rooms. Would highly recommend a stay. The rooms were spotlessly clean the hotel had excellent facilities, breakfast was great selection. All the staff were very friendly and very helpful nothing was too much trouble. I would definitely use this hote again.

Hotel location is good which near the bleach road & walking street. May beer bars & massage shop around the area. Hotel services staff are awesome with smiling face at all times especially the front desk counter.
