We booked The Sebel Manly Beach on recommendation from our wedding venue, who had an agreement involving a 17% discount for all guests attending the wedding. From the beginning I called and spoke directly with staff to ensure that I understood the process for our guests to receive the discount. Despite following the direction of your staff, a number of our guests had issues when booking, even when calling the hotel directly, and did not receive the discount. On a number of occasions I called to ensure that it was sorted and while certain staff members said it was, when I called the next time it was not. It took 3 different phone calls of over half an hour to actually have the discounts applied to the rooms. Some guests had booked using the prepaid service and so these prices could not be updated. I was advised that the issues came from the fact that it had not been noted that we had booked for the wedding as per standard procedures. I'm not sure this was ever updated. Because of all the issues with bookings, the staff gave our group comp parking for the time we were there. We had a total of 8 rooms booked for our family and guests, and I am still unsure if any of them were charged correctly. When we arrived, our room was 1 hour late in being ready - and potentially could have been later had we not got upset about it. Additionally, in one of the rooms in which we requested a sofa bed to be made up, it was not. On the wedding day we had requested that housekeeping attend our rooms after 3:30pm as we were getting ready in the rooms. Instead they showed up to the room mentioned above at 2pm and then never returned. The guests in that room returned after the wedding to an unserviced room - not even with clean towels. When the staff member came up with clean towels and the guest asked why it had not been serviced, the staff member rudely replied saying that it was not his job and the housekeeping staff finished at 2pm. I had gone to great lengths to ensure that I had communicated everything and given plenty of notice about the room set ups, and housekeeping and was never advised that these things would be issues, in fact quite the opposite - I was assured they would be organised. Overall, we found the staff extremely rude, difficult to communicate with and far from accommodating. After we sat and spoke with the manager, and explained all of this to him, he offered us breakfast on the last morning for the two rooms which we had the most issues with. No other compensation was offered at the time as he said that they would need to look further into it. To have to take time out of the day after our wedding to have this conversation was far from ok. In addition to this, my husband parked his van in the underground carpark, which had a clearance of 2M. The van is below that clearance, however when we drove out he hit a pipe that had a clearance of less that 2M causing a large amount of damage to the refrigeration unit. The management team are still yet to come back to us with a solution relating to this, and have suggested that it is actually my husbands fault given that he was driving the van. On another occasion during our stay, a staff member moved the van as it was double parked based on their instruction, and they scraped the top of the refrigeration unit on the same pipe. We were offer 1 night refund to accomodate for this damage. So, while they did refund one of our nights (for the damage caused to the van) and offered us a voucher to come back from a 1 night stay (for the remaining issues we experienced), we were extremely disappointed with the level of service and would definitely not recommend anyone to stay here again - especially on their wedding weekend. My parents were staying in the second room, which was not set up properly on arrival or serviced on the wedding day did not receive any compensation aside from free breakfast on the last morning. They are not people who would usually stay in a hotel such as this one, but chose to as it was a special family occasion and they felt the servicing of the rooms would be beneficial given that we were getting ready in the room on the wedding day. Instead they came back to a mess, no clean towels and had to make up the sofa bed themselves (it had been put away earlier in the day for space). It's safe to say they would not return or recommend the hotel to anyone else either.

Overall a very nice experience. Cons: rooms doors slam loudly and have no sound proofing, so hear them from the hall way all night.

Was a great night. Room was renovated and really nice. Great views of the beach and close to the main strip of Manly. Included Breakfast which is next door in the restaurant that is connected to the hotel. It is not a buffet breakfast, you just order off the menu but would have been nice to be told this when we checked in. Breakfast was great.
