Premium Hotel with Premium problems

I have and do stay at Pullman hotels across Australia with out an issue. I have stayed at the Cairns Pullman previously without an issue. This recent stay was far from a pleasant experience. Starting on checking in I requested an early cab to be booked. I was told this will be done (but not written down so I thought to check later). Then the room card would not activate the lift (not activated on checkin). After finally getting back to lobby I approached the receptionist on the issue. I was told I was not using the card correctly? I reiterated I was as been in the hotel before and the card reader stays red. I was finally given a new card - this time activated. On getting to the floor (14) the sign should relay what’s ahead. The premium sign was missing the premium lettering. The room is very dated and not as you would expect. To have a bath/shower with a high step up in/out is not ideal and not at other premium rooms in other hotels. On dropping something on the bathroom floor you can see the quality of the workmanship. With holes in the wall where the ants come from I gather - later on that. I then call reception to check the early cab booking - I rang for 45 min and constantly engaged. Thinking a bus group turned up I went to the reception - no bus and no customers - but the reception managed. So I called in my mobile the hotel and immediately answered? Best to describe the check up on the cab as nothing was done. When I asked the receptionist challenged me that she was to book it later - on asking what time that was - she had no idea? The receptionist did not know what time I requested it for (0430) - so it was never actioned. The TV is the smallest I have seen in any Pullman in a wooden box. Not on the wall but limited to the cabinet size. I wake during the night and use the bath room - and small ants in the sink and around the soap? Not the best look for a premium room or hotel. The one reframing feature was the cab turned up 5 min early - as it was the start of his shift. I’m sure I will get the cut and paste reply if the hotel answers - with renovations and staff issues. This does not excuse any of the above. As I use Accor will I use the Pullman again yes - one more try.

From the early check-in to the late check-out we had nothing but great experiences. The room amenities and decor were spot on and the breakfast bar, with made to order eggs & omelettes and a wide variety of hot & cold selections (including crispy bacon) was the perfect way to start the day.

Booked this venue for 15 people to celebrate my baby shower. Didn’t get greeted on arrival so seated ourselves as no one came. One of my guests asked after 20 minutes for at least water and to start the High tea. Took 1hr food food to arrive and was so disappointing. Not as they had described when the venue was booked. 4 little savory sandwich’s and all sweets. Staff were poorly trained, coffee and teas weren’t hot. The list goes on. Most of my guests had a tea, and small sandwich and went home hungry. Very disappointed at paying $49 each for such poor service and food that was below average. Then on leaving we’re told someone had not paid so stood around for 20 minutes until they realized we all had. Contacted management and apologized and said we all have off days! There solution was to offer a discount when we returned. 15 locals that will never return and happily inform locals not to waste there time. Can’t re do my baby shower and definitely wouldn’t spend any more money at this venue for more bad service and food.

Fantastic upgraded room, beautiful couldn't ask for more. Pool could however be upgraded, looked a bit tied.
