Charming, but a mix of Ibis and Sofitel. The rooms are tiny, the fittings are cheap and nasty and its noisy as you would expect next to Argyle street. The bathroom was tiny with loose fittings and the tiles looked not sealed and even a bit dirty. There are no lift which was not a problem for us, and the food and drinks service was slow but good. It’s a beautiful building. We might go back to the bar or breakfast but not to stay. Its a shame.

We had previously overlooked this hotel when we stayed previously in Sydney, but after this stay it will be moving to the top of the list. It is a beautiful hotel with a heritage history having been originally a part of Sydney hospital and also a wool store, which were depicted in pictures throughout the hotel. the Hotel has a lovely welcoming to it which was enhanced by the wonderful staff, who made you feel at home right from when you walk in the door. we were lucky enough to have a room with a harbour view, and whilst there were no lifts the central staircase was easy to traverse and the concierge took care of taking our bags up to our room. The room was very tastefully decorated, with a modern feel but also stayed true to the heritage vibe of the hotel. The Bed was very comfortable and the bathroom generous. We arrived on Friday morning as i was booked in for pre surgery tests for the following week. The staff were so good taking care of our luggage and making us feel like we were truly valued as a guest. Restaurant booking made and an invitation to a wine tasting that afternoon was a nice surprise, and much appreciated. The location of this Hotel truly puts you in the centre of everything with all that the rocks offer is on your doorstep, and the light rail is just a stone throw away at circular quay, making the city centre a very short jaunt. We had a wonderful evening at the wine tasting, followed by one of the best middle eastern dinners that i have had in recent times. Breakfast was just as good with a middle eastern inspired breakfast choices that truly started the D. off on a high. The staff were truly excellent, and stayed true to the intimate decor and feel of the Hotel. The crepes at the creperie were truly good, I could have had crepe's each lunchtime (and I Did). We enjoyed our stay here immensely

very good but can't be 5 star

You can't receive 5 stars for a hotel with no lift. There should be a warning for those with restricted mobility. That said it's quirky, clean and exceptionally well located. Short walk to bars, small mall, and the harbour for ferries. Breakfast has a 'mediterranean twist' ie no bacon.
