No Room Service, No Mini-Bar, No Restaurant (except for Breakfast) .... this is not the standard you would expect for a hotel like this that charges the same as the 5 star hotels. I have stayed here many times and written 5 star reviews as it was a wonderful boutique hotel in Melbourne. The rooms are still delightful and large, the staff are helpful and friendly but when you walk in at night and see guests eating Uber Eats deliveries in what used to be the Felt restaurant the vibe it used to have is gone. The excuse used for no mini-bar was COVID which is nonsense as we stayed here late last year and the mini-bar was fully stocked. Even trying to get breakfast in the room required downloading an app, signing up for the service, pre-ordering - you could not just pick up the phone and order .... that is a sign that the customer experience is not front of mind as it used to be. It is a real shame as this used to be the place to go but checking into a hotel in Melbourne that has no restaurant outside of breakfast hours but then has no room service and no mini-bar on top of that is just not upto standard. I know there are new owners so my only thought is they are reducing costs and preparing to close the hotel before doing something with the facility - all fine but the prices do not match the current experience.

Construction Nightmare - Staff Saved It....just.

Loved the location, and the front desk staff (in particular Daniela) were always helpful and accommodating. HOWEVER, the fact that we were not informed about the construction in advance was inexcusable. I booked in for our 25th wedding anniversary in a junior suite. The construction noise was deafening and disruptive. We were moved to the front of the hotel for the final night (lucky it was a Sunday and there was space), but the damage was done....having experienced it, I now realise that you stayed silent deliberately… NO ONE would willingly book in for that kind of noise. Next, your room service menu has no menu. It's a few drinks and some chocolate, but no food to speak of. Nothing else. Pretty disappointing for a hotel of this price and advertised stature. Loved the fact that you left a bottle of sparkling wine and some chocolates for us as a gift for our anniversary. Unfortunately, the chocolates were expired. ☹ Luckily, the staff responded quickly with a replacement. You should reconsider your room furnishings. There are pieces in there that seem to have no place in the room design (maybe they used to have a TV or something), and I hope that this is just a holdover until you remodel the rooms. Not the most thoughtful design. Please add a blanket to the beds, so you can throw it over you for a quick nap. It's a nice touch and makes a difference to the room comfort. The front rooms with the big windows are nice and bright. Once the construction ends, and you give the rooms a bit of a re-fresh, it'll be quite a nice place to stay.... In the end, your staff save you from getting a 1 or 2 rating, and without them my anniversary visit would have been in ruins.
