Given 4 stars for the staff, service and food. Very warm welcome at check-in and again friendly when checking-out. Bar food was very nice, as was the buffet breakfast. Room was clean and bed was comfy. Decor was OK, could be more modern. What prevents this hotel from receiving 5 stars is the exterior. As you drive in it feels like you’re staying in a hotel that time forgot. The exterior looks tired, in major need of renovation and the 70s facade done away with. Such a shame as once you’re inside you are looked after.

Stayed for a family wedding that was being held nearby. Overall experience was really good. We arrived at half past one which meant we could not check in because we were a bit early and the room wasn't ready yet which was fine because we were still able to grab a bite to eat in the bar and lounge area. This area was fairly small with limited seating for the size of the hotel but we did manage to get a table (it seemed there was more tables prior to Covid) the food was reasonably priced as were the drinks, especially the kids menu. There was still some time to kill after having some food but fortunately there was plenty of outside area for the children to stretch their legs and burn a bit of energy. The grounds were really lovely and spacious too with plenty of outdoor seating. Upon check in, it was a quick and easy process... Steve was an absolute Angel, we assured him we would be okay with our luggage but he insisted on helping us and showed us to our room. The family rooms are located on the farther side of the hotel which was the old manor house. The room itself was really spacious. the only downside we had to this was the tv, small in size and lacked channels to watch. we stayed on the second floor so there was a few extra steps to go up but as we stayed two nights this wasn't really any bother to us. Breakfasts in the morning were also really good, really good selection of hot and cold foods as well.

I am running course's at the Hotel. The 3 girls ( Jane, Claire, and Galina) are wonderful. They make me feel so welcome every time arrive. All have big smiles and we have a little chat. They have made sure the room is set up right, my PC leads are there, refreshments are ready. They come and check that everything is OK and working well. They are so wonderful. Out of all the Hotels I visit to run course this is my favourite. I feel as if I have been coming here years and it's only 3 months. I am looking forward to my next course at the hotel. Thank you Girls

Just a lovely experience. Not the smartest looking hotel on the outside but staff, bed, shower and spa really great. The breakfast has been the best we've ever had with great choice, lovely bread and freshly made. We've stayed in many hotels and honestly would certainly recommend the Great Danes.
