Really nice hotel, friendly helpful staff. Nice selection of hot drinks in room along with bottled water. Good to have an iron and ironing board, comfy clean beds and pillows. Would benefit from ceiling fan or air conditioning in the summer as room hot and stuffy. Breakfast was excellent, could have more egg choices and veg sausages

Great receptionist but poor quality of a hotel

Positive - Reception high level of service who accommodated stay at last minute. Improvements - Old, dated, hotel that needs a complete refurbishment. Its a mis match of buildings, with no flow. Poor value for money for £100 per night. Room - clean but low level quality. Furniture dated, damaged, scuffed, worn. Hot - no air con. Fan provided. Noisy and smell of cooking from kitchen. Windows not sound proofed. Bathroom - dated, worn, old fittings, broken bulbs. Spa / Pool - dark, dingy, old, dated, worn, paint peeling, broken bulbs, pool water not clear. Changing facilities cold. Not spa quality. Shower areas mouldy. Overall, impression - poor. Many more hotels in the area that are of a better quality and value for money. Unfortunately, would not recommend. Did I feel special ? No. Was I glad to get away? No. Would I want to return? No. Do I trust it will improve? Doubtful. A huge amount of investment is likely needed for this hotel. Current climate might not viable.

We stayed for a night on 11 June to 12 June. The receptionists were lovely on arrival. The hotel was a little bit dated but the grounds were beautiful. However I must say that throughout our stay the staff (from receptionists to restaurant staff to the health club staff) were absolutely wonderful. All of the restaurant staff who were working on the floor on the afternoon (from 2-3 pm onwards) and evening of Friday 11 June were impeccable. They were welcoming, attentive, and kind. Amanda who was working at breakfast the next day (12 June) was incredibly helpful when we needed a take away breakfast. She had already prepared the boxes before we arrived. She was helpful and gave us juice boxes. An incredibly lovely lady. The hotel was a little dated I thought but the staff made it an incredible stay!

The staff here are lovely - welcoming and helpful. The room was clean, the food we had was good. Only comments are that it would have been helpful to be given more information on things like breakfast times, arrangements for use of the pool, no housekeeping (for obvious reasons when you think about it, but it would just be nice to know if or how, for example, we could get replacement towel or more milk/tea). Also, and more importantly, it was difficult for wheelchair access. The "stairlift" was out of action with no explanation which meant we had to negotiate very heavy firedoors each time. Would the manager care to try this a few times wheeling someone in a wheelchair who is considerably heavier than he is?

Restaurant service was good. A good selection of food. I found it concerning that no life guard was on duty in the pool. Instead, two staff sat chatting at the gym reception desk. This is a serious breach of health and safety. Also open to liability should someone drown. We both felt that hotel staff need their own staff lounge. It wasn't appropriate to sit listening to staff politics whilst trying to relax in the lounge.

First impressions was the lady on the front desk wasn’t overly friendly, we didn’t get the welcome you’d except. The room was lovely and clean but the hotel itself is dated. The hall way on the way to our room had ceiling tiles down and a bucket sat below where something was leaking and there were items (rubbish) left outside of guests rooms that we’re still there the following morning. There is no air con in the rooms and the temperature in the room of the night of our stay was unbearable, we opened the windows as much as we could but then we had to endure the noise from some kind of animal that kept screeching regularly through the night and other noise coming from the ducting outside the window. All in all the worst nights sleep I’ve had in a long time.

The state of repair was poor, considering the amount of downtime due to Covid. The curtain fixings were broken, the in house phone socket was broken, the radiator outside our room was very hot despite the temperatures being in the high 20’s. The only air-con was in the public areas. The food was limited but in general ok although the cooked breakfast was only just warm. The staff, although stretched in number were polite and helpful.

Wake up call!

The hotel was clean, had good COVID guidelines and we enjoyed the pool and grounds. However, to be given a wake up call at 06.30 that was not requested completely ruined our stay. We had booked a night in the hotel to enjoy a lie in and some peace and quiet, but to have your bedside phone ring at 06.30, and the clueless receptionist ask if you’ve booked a wake up call after making the wake up call, spoiled it.

Not as good as the 1st time we come . The room and pool are lovely but the food wasn't as good. Unfortunately we won't be eating there again. There seemed to be alot of things missing from the menu and what was on the menu they had run out Not just the mains desserts too

I booked for 4 nights but checked out after the first night. again the hotel was outdated, i was bombarded in the resturant by mosquetos, asked for the stake to be cooked well done and arrived rare, internet was only available in the reception area, when in the room not internet connection was available.

Convenient location to family. Competitive price. The room was tired but clean, the weather was hot and the room was in full sun. This meant the room was very hot when we returned for our days out( even having closed the curtains) a contributing factor would be the step under the window that housed hot water pipes. This step doubled up as chest of drawers! Limited storage is an issue. We booked a table at the Brassiere so we could eat with family. The meal was expensive for what it was, my salad was served on a hot plate for example. The paper pot of condiments came in looked Covid friendly but contained the empty packets from someone else. We raised this at the time. We cancelled our dinner booking for later in the week.

Good stay - only one problem

The hotel location is excellent for visiting the best attractions in the area. All staff were incredibly polite, welcoming and friendly. Our room was clean and had enough provisions for all three of us. Ironing board/iron/hairdryer/towels/cups all there and didn’t have to ask which was a pleasant surprise! Breakfast selection was excellent and we had a very enjoyable evening meal, with much fuss made over our 8 year old, much to her delight. Plenty of parking - another bonus! Beds were slightly too firm for our liking, but wouldn’t put us off a second visit. The main problem for us is that on our first night (of two) we were kept up until the early hours of the morning by a very loud family whose young child was running around (at times along the corridor it seemed!) and so either the sound proofing is poor OR the staff aren’t really monitoring guest behaviour. Also note there is no air conditioning however a fan is provided.

Stayed 3 nights for business recently. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms are fine and cleanliness is good (rooms are not cleaned during stay, but replacement towels, tea/coffee are provided). Due to Covid couldn't use the gym and ate in my room (no issues).
