Our stay at this hotel was fine overall, but I wouldn't stay here again or recommend it to others. The property is older and has clearly been renovated over the years, but there are still areas that feel worn out and could benefit from better upkeep and modernization. One challenge for families is that the hotel does not offer connecting rooms. If you're traveling with children, be prepared to book two separate rooms that may not be next to each other. Initially, our rooms were assigned far apart, but after noticing housekeeping preparing a room across the hall during check-in, we asked if we could switch. The staff was able to accommodate our request, which we appreciated. It did mean giving up our second Privilege room, and another guest ended up receiving the welcome gifts left in our original room, but having rooms across from each other was much more important for our family. The biggest disappointment was breakfast. It was honestly one of the poorest hotel breakfast experiences I've had. Breakfast is advertised as starting at 6:30 a.m., but on our first morning there was still no food available at 6:35, and the setup was very slow. Once staff arrived, they seemed to spend more time talking with each other than preparing the buffet or clearing tables. The second morning, we arrived to breakfast later but still got to overhear the latest gossip from staff as they stood around. On the third morning, the same issues continued: there was no bread available at opening, the jelly dispensers were empty, both coffee machines were out of order, and the toaster had blown a fuse and wasn't working. During this time, the staff member on duty appeared more focused on chatting with another guest than addressing these problems. The repeated issues made me wonder whether the underlying problem is a lack of management oversight, staff training, or operational standards. On a positive note, the river views are beautiful, and the hotel's location is excellent. Unfortunately, those positives weren't enough to outweigh the overall experience.

Booked into this hotel as have stayed here previously Room was clean and spacious , however be aware that the noise of you are unlucky enough to have a street facing room, was intense. Night 1 - got suddenly woken up by a young girl with a blood curdling scream several times. Got out of bed because it sounded like she was in trouble. Discovered she was a young girl mucking about with mates. Then came the sweepers and lots of other noises, about 4am and it was a similar thing the next evening. Breakfast - I had spoken on staff when we checked due to dietary issues, was told no problem just ask the staff in the morning. So next morning I asked, gave up on waiting after 45 minutes. Also ordered poached eggs, bear in mind this was at 6:30 in the morning when it was quiet, before the coach parties descended on the restaurant. After 25 minutes went to check and was told, “ it takes a long time to boil the water, that is why it is still not ready. It is early in the morning.” Having travelled an awful lot globally, this is the weirdest and strangest excuse I have ever heard. When it did finally arrive , it was not soft poached but hard in the middle. Not what I expect from the hotel, was waiting for the manager to call me afterwards, but at time of review not courtesy of a phone call.

Mercure Hotel Inverness We had the most wonderful welcome on our arrival with Jo at reception greeting us with a smile that made us feel very much at home and looking forward to our two nights at this lovely hotel overlooking the river Ness. We had arrived early, so Jo kindly offered to store our bags safely whilst we had a look around the city market just outside the door of the hotel. Our room was an upgrade to a river view which was spacious with a very comfortable bed and an excellent bathroom. The room was very well maintained and as ACCOR members we were pleasant;y surprised with the lovely welcome gift that was waiting for us in our room. Breakfast each morning was included in our reservation and was excellent. The view from the dining room was once again overlooking the river. A very peaceful scene to enjoy during breakfast. All the members of he Mercure team were warm and friendly during our stay. The bar was a good place to sit in the afternoon after an explore of the town and to enjoy our welcome drink that once again was included as part of of our ACCOR membership. Thank you to Jo for making us feel so welcome on our arrival and to all the staff we met during our stay. We would very happily stay at this Very conveniently located hotel in the future.
