Great Views and Location — A Bit Worn, But Good Value

We stayed at the Mercure Inverness during our time in the Highlands. The location couldn’t be more convenient — right in the heart of town with easy access to everything. Depending on your room, you’ll either enjoy views of Church Street or the River Ness, both of which were lovely. That said, the hotel does feel a bit old and worn in places. The hallways, in particular, had a slightly eerie vibe. However, the room itself was comfortable, the staff was friendly, and overall, it was a good value for the price. A solid choice if you’re looking for location and convenience.

The Good: Excellent location—right in the heart of the lively downtown area and just on the river Ness . Great onsite parking. The breakfast was also a highlight: fresh, well-prepared, and satisfying. The Bad: The hotel is clearly showing its age. The building, reception area, and decor all feel dated, with worn carpets, old wallpaper, and a generally tired appearance. Surprisingly, there were no accessible outlets in the room to charge electronic devices. The bathroom was also extremely small and cramped.

Room was very basic. No aircon, no phone (despite room info saying to call reception for anything). WhatsApp facility was used, but NO FEEDBACK - message not even read. Charge for parking was ridiculous - especially in light of the cost of the room. Breakfast was good. Evening meal was 'ok'. Overall, pretty disappointed with the Mercure Inverness, especially as have stayed at other Accor hotels that were far better. Won't be coming back here!!

It wasn't clean: there were used tissues under the desk near the rubbish bin, for example.
