Mostly clean, but tired

We found the hotel to be mostly clean. The room was definitely cleaned to a high standard. The public areas needed a bit of an attention and a deep clean. I witnessed a restaurant employee clear and set a table, then clean around the fresh cutlery 🤷🏼‍♀️ I had to lift a few mugs at breakfast to find a clean one (for the self-service coffee machine). The double glazing had failed in a couple of areas too, which added to the unclean feel. We heard a lot of noise from what I imagine was staff moving large equipment around - at 0500 on a Sunday. The food was delicious, at breakfast and dinner. The staff were pleasant too. Overall a satisfactory stay but probably would look elsewhere next time we’re in Ayr.

Booked my husbands 40th Birthday stay for 2 nights at the Mercure in Sept 2024. Was messaged a few days before arrival advising they had seen my message and something would be in the room on arrival as a treat. Arrived to nothing in the room. Wouldnt have minded usually but because I had received message, was expecting something ( especially when I arrived with a big 40th helium ballon) On arrival and quite a few times through the holiday we went to ask reception staff a few questions but had to wait on them coming off their phone. Had the seaview premium room. Room was good size and clean, very basic. Was advised on booking that it would be £5 per day parking however when we arrived this fee had changed to £7 per day with no notice of changes. Also had been expecting access to the gym however was advised at breakfast that the gym had shut down the previous week, again with no update through email previous to check in, very disspointing. A few other guests also highlighted they had not been given this update prior to arriving and were also not advised seimming pool has shut earlier in the year. Breakfast was good, staff attentive and friendly and good choice of items. Overall, poor communication. Good location and clean. Felt price was high given all the amenties which would normally be available had all shut down, not reflected in price

Our swimming pool has been closed for over two years now and is off all our websites our gym is being refurbed at the moment and will be a hotel guest only facility when this opens. We had a very enjoyable weekend at the Mercure Hotel for the Air show. Lucy at reception allocated us with a fantastic room, with a sea view (465) , thank you Lucy. Andrew at the bar, very helpful and friendly. Not to mention all the staff at breakfast, they were all great. The breakfast was delicious 😋. The room was so clean and comfortable, we had a great sleep! Will not hesitate to visit again. Thank you all for a memorable weekend.
